Meredith Grey was pretty sure it wasn't possible to be more happy than she was right now. Actually she wasn't even sure if it was possible to be this happy, to be on cloud nine or whatever. But she was insanely happy. It had been two days since she had given birth in the bedroom down the hall. Two days since she had been taken by the paramedics to the hospital and two days since her new baby had looked into her eyes, and immediately accepting her breast in return for food. Meredith was happy and as happy as she was, sometimes she cried. It wasn't a sad cry, just an amazing cry which she was told by Derek's mother it was normal.

She had been released by the hospital earlier in the morning and now, she was in bed as the doctor requested she be for the first day or two at home. An unplanned home birth meant alone more strain on her body and being put into in unprepared environment. She was well, but worn out and laying low was best.

She didn't mind, laying low meant observing every detail of Derek as a father and learning everything about her little baby girl. The little girl whose nursery was already painted pink and green, with little daisy's painted around the closet. Lexie had insisted that wooden letters hang over the crib, spelling their new baby's name.

Meredith had decorated before, sometimes much to the dislike of other's taste but never had she seen a room come together so quickly as this one had. His mother had miraculously shown up with piles of new dresses, hats, pink blankets and onesies. Lexie had gone out to by a few girly touches for the nursery and their many other hospital friends had put together a girly gift basket.

All of those things were amazing and now Meredith couldn't stop watching Derek who was sitting next to her, trying to put together a mobile with little flowers for the nursery. "I...is it really that hard?"

"It's...too many little pieces." Derek sighed in frustration.

"Lexie said their was another mobile that looked like little baby sundresses hanging."

"There are two of them?" He looked over at her.

"Yeah." Meredith smiled weakly. "It's in the bag by the dresser. She wasn't sure which one we would want but maybe it's a little easier."

"I can try that one." Derek laughed, pressing a quick kiss to her lips before getting off the bed to get the other decoration.

"I miss her." Meredith admitted, running a hand over her stomach.

"She's just downstairs."

"That's weird right?" Meredith whispered, looking at the bassinet that had been placed right by her side. "I miss her and she's just downstairs with your Mom so we can get some rest. I miss her when I go to the bathroom or look away for a second."

"I do too...but...you should be resting."

"So...she's not a boy." Meredith giggled, avoiding his comment about rest.

"So I've noticed." Derek rolled his eyes, trying not to laugh.

"And you adore her."

"She's my little girl." He whispered.

"We're taking after your Mom....girls."

"We've only had one."

"Just saying." Meredith giggled, as he pressed a kiss against her neck. "I was right....you can admit it now."

"Fine..." Derek whispered. "You were right."

"And you're kind of crazy about her."

"Completely..."
