It had been almost an entire day since Derek had slept. The bus accident that had filled the ER that morning had been the only thing aside from Meredith on his mind from the moment he had gotten to the hospital that morning and now that everyone was either in surgery or stabilized, it was finally time to go home.

Meredith was supposed to meet him in the lobby when it was time for both of them to leave except he had been sitting there for almost twenty minutes now and she hadn't shown up. With a groan, he figured she must have gotten pulled into surgery and instead of heading out the doors of the hospital, went back upstairs to the familiar surgical floor and walked into an on call room to wait for Meredith when he saw a figure curled up on the bed, one that was hard to mistake.

He laughed to himself, before putting his briefcase down on the floor and moving to sit on the edge of the bed she was soundly sleeping in. "Hey..."

"Mmm...." Meredith nuzzled her nose into the stiff pillow.

"
Sorry to wake you up." He whispered.

"Sleeping..."

"Yeah." Derek chuckled, standing up again and pulling off his jacket.

"Tired..."

"Shh..." He whispered, crawling onto the small bed with her.

"We have to go home..."

"You're comfortable."

"Our bed is comfortable." She whispered as he wrapped his arms around her.

"We'll go home soon."

"I think my feet have doubled in size."

"Hmm...a few days off might not be a bad idea."

"Bailey made me stop working an hour early because she thinks I'm getting too swollen."

"Remind me to thank her."

"Retaining water..."

"Overworked." Derek whispered, rubbing her back.

"How was the rest of your day?"

"Not as bad as the first half."

"Good..." She said, still half asleep.

"I thought you were in surgery." He whispered.

"Bailey didn't let me scrub in."

"Another thing to thank her for."

"Hey." Meredith groaned, shifting slightly.

"I don't want you to tire yourself out." Derek chuckled, kissing her head.

"I like surgeries."

"Good thing...since you're a surgeon."

"Tired..."

"Go back to sleep."

"But we could go to our bed."

"Do you want to get up?"

"Oh...."

"We can stay here for now." He whispered, sliding a hand around onto her belly.

"I really want my bed." Meredith whispered, knowing how tired she was.

"I can go get a wheelchair so you won't have to walk..."

"You're not going to get me a wheelchair."

"You know when you have the baby...they're going to make you use a wheel chair."

"Nope. I'm going to march right in here myself."
