Derek couldn't believe he had done this. He wasn't a little kid. He didn't need his mom to fix his problems for him. Except calling his mom was the only thing that he could think to do. The situation with Meredith had gone from bad to worse. In the last few days, they had barely spoken. Just good mornings and goodnights and now Derek's mother was coming because Derek didn't know what to do.

"Derek Dear..." He heard his mother's voice jolt him from his thoughts as he watched the older woman walk out of the terminal.

"Mom..." Derek smiled, weakly, hugging his mother as she walked up to him and put her bags down.

"I'm sorry Dear but you must explain to me why you told me you needed me here as soon as possible." The older woman sighed, clutching her hands to his cheeks. "Are you dying?"

"Meredith is pregnant. Do you have any checked bags or is this it?"

"She's what?" Carolyn Shepherd's eyes went wide.

"Pregnant...not very far along but...pregnant."

"Preg...."

"Pregnant." Derek finished for her.

"I see."

"She's at home...the doctor put her on bed rest for two weeks."

"Bed rest? Is she considered high risk already?"

"No...she just...is stressed and got into an accident...She's fine. Pregnant, but fine."

"An accident? My heavens is she alright?" Mrs. Shepherd asked as her son led her out of the terminal.

"She's just fine...a little sore."

"So everything is okay with the baby?"

"The baby is fine."

"So if Meredith's okay and the baby is..."

"Meredith isn't happy." Derek explained quickly.

"Well I am sure that being sore isn't a pleaser for anyone." His mother chuckled weakly.

"No...she's not happy about the baby."

"Oh Dear...I assure you she's just tired."

"That's not it." Derek sighed, running a hand through his hair as they headed to the parking garage.

"Then what do you mean she's not happy about the baby?" She frowned.

"She doesn't want the baby."

"That's not true." She replied immediately.

"She said it was a mistake." He breathed.

'I hardly believe she feels that way." She couldn't believe the words coming from her son's mouth. Surely a woman who had struggled to find this gift wouldn't feel that way when she received it.

"Well...believe it." Derek sighed. "She's barely spoken to me since we found out...won't let me touch her."

"Derek with each pregnancy...all of you and your sisters...I wouldn't let your father touch me for at least the first two months."

"It wasn't like that."

"How are you sure?" His mother replied as he began to load her things into his car.

"Because we had a conversation about kids about a week ago..." Derek shut the trunk of his SUV.

"Alright..." She watched the way her sons eyes turned sad.
