"Yves, darling. I'd like you to meet George. He's gonna be your new dad." lumapit sa akin ang isang matangkad na lalaki na kasama ni mommy.
"Hi Yves, I'm George. How are you?" tanong ng lalaki.
"You're not my daddy!" sigaw ko sa lalaki sabay takbo palayo.
It's Christmas and it's been 5 years since my mom and dad got separated. They broke up on a Christmas day and since then, I never wished anything but for my daddy to come back home.
We were on a vacation at Baguio and my mom suddenly screamed so loud while I was playing on the playground. There were so many people around us and I was like only seven that time. It was my first time seeing mom and dad argued. Mom slapped dad in front of me, in front of the crowd.
Right at the moment, dad left. I never saw his face again.
Nagalit ako kay daddy and to any other men I see. It was so unfair to me because their arguement was out of my control.
It's the first time after mom and dad got separated nang magdala ng ibang tao si mommy sa apartment. It wasn't just any ordinary day. It was Christmas day, the day mom and dad broke up.
I can't accept the fact that mommy had found a new guy and that she could replace dad. He brought George home without telling me or even asking me if it's okay with me.
"Yves, I'm sorry. I should've told you first." si mommy habang niyayakap ako. "Don't worry, George is good guy." dagdag niya.
"Here, I brought you a present." lumapit ulit si George sa akin.
My dad was a hotel manager while my mom was just a plain housewife. After they broke up, mom was forced to work para mabuhay kaming dalawa. She worked as a waitress sa isang high-end restaurant. I transferred to a public school where my classmates mocked me everyday because of my fat body. Dad spoiled me a lot when it comes to food kaya tumaba ako. But everything changed, we got broke and went on a tight budget and my mom can't even afford to buy me a new school shoes when I can't use my old pair because of my growing feet.
Sa restaurant nakilala ni mommy si George. I can't call him daddy because he is not my dad. I don't want to call him tito either because I hate him. But times passed and I eventually accepted George. He did everything to be my dad. Lumipat kami sa bahay niya at tinuring akong sariling anak. He never had a family and the only people close to him were the Garcia's.
We transferred from Cebu to Manila after George decided to focus more on his newly developed perfume brand. I achieved the perfect body in just 6 months. Hindi birong training at diet ang pinagdaanan ko and all of those sacrifices were worth it.
George introduced us to the Garcia's. Tito Edward is his bestfriend. The Garcia's had a son named Marcus, the legal heir of Garcia Group of Companies where George's company is a subsidiary. He is such a gentleman, and handsome, and an idiot. I like him so much.
"Darling, please meet me at Victor's Restaurant after your class. Ipapasundo na lang kita sa driver mamaya." si mommy habang nasa kabilang linya.
"I can't mom. I have final exam tomorrow. I can't afford to fail the exam again, I already took this subject thrice. I can't finish college if I fail this subject again!" tugon ko habang papalabas ng classroom.
"Okay, but I thought you want to meet Marcus? He will also be there tonight."
Okay, I, I'll be there. But I need to get changed! I can't let him see me na naka uniform pa. I need a make over mom!" nataranta ako sa sobrang excitement.
AND THAT'S HOW I MET MARCUS.
