We were on our way out the door when someone interrupted us.
"Excuse me, sir. You have to sign out if you bring a patient out."
A lady at the front desk spoke, and I sighed then signed out.
"Are you leaving?"
The lady asked.
"No, we're just going outside."
I motioned to the door.
"Outside as in "outside?"
She questioned.
"Yea."
I nodded, confused on why she's asking me this.
"Oh, you can't do that. You'd have to have a nurse with you."
The lady spoke strictly.
"What the fu-Why not?"
This is pissing me off. Christie hasn't been outside in weeks. She needs to get out just a little bit.
"You can go outside as in downstairs."
The lady ignored my question.
"You know what? Fuck yo-"
"Justin, it's fine. Don't worry about it."
Christie interrupted me and squeezed my hand. I sighed then led her out the door.
"This isn't fair."
I muttered irritably as all 9 of us entered the elevator.
"At least she can get out of that room for once."
Za tried to brighten the mood. When we got out, I remembered the small store, where I got Drew's food and the bag of Cheetos.
"Look, Justin."
Christie pointed to an outdoor restaurant.
"You're hungry?"
I asked, hoping it was a yes.
"No, there are tables. We can sit outside."
She explained.
"Oh, yea, let's go sit down."
I led her outside and sat her on a chair.
"Is this good?"
I sat down in front of her with Drew. She nodded and looked around.
"Feel a little better now that you're out?"
I smiled at her, and she smiled and nodded.
"How do you feel, baby?"
I noticed she stopped talking. Christie shrugged and narrowed her eyes.
"Christie, is something wrong, bae?"
I reached for her hand. The next thing I knew, Christie had her head on the table. She was crying and whimpering.
"Christie, don't cry. What's wrong, baby?"
I placed my hand on her head and stroked her hair.
"...This is all my fault."
She cried soft enough for me to hear.
"What's all your fault, Christie?"
I continued to stroke her soft hair.
"We were so happy until I fucked all of this up with my stupid problems."
She started to sob harder.
"You didn't fuck anything up, babygirl. It's not your fault."
My heart felt violated from her crying.
"Yes, it is."
She cried, and a few people were looking at us. That annoyed me. People need to mind their own business.
"No, Christie...Look at me."
I got up and kneeled beside her.
"Hey, baby, look."
I unburied her face from her arms and cupped it fragilely in my hands.
"It's not your fault. Ok? Now, is this your fault?"
I wanted to make it clear that this isn't her fault at all. She shook head and continued crying.
"If it's anyone's fault, it's my brother's. We both know that."
I dried her eyes and kissed her temple.
"Stand up, baby."
I helped her stand up; then I hugged her with Drew. She calmed down and held me close.
"I know what'll make you feel better."
I broke the hug and smiled.
"What?"
Christie sniffled and wiped her eyes with her hand.
"Someone who loves you very much."
I held Drew to her, and he smiled and reached his hands out to her.
"Aw"
She giggled and embraced Drew in her arms.
"He's so adorable."
Christie smiled and pressed her lips to Drew's head.
"So are you, baby. I have a present for you. C'mere."
I led her inside the building and to a flower shop.
"Oh, Justin, I don't need thi-"
"You don't need a lot of things, but I choose to give them to you."
I pulled her inside the shop.
"You like these?"
I showed her a set of purple and white flowers.
"I gues-"
"Yes?"
I dug into my pocket. Christie nodded slightly; then I bought the flowers and handed them to her.
"Thank you, Justin."
She smiled and sniffed the flowers.
"Anything for you, bae."
I kissed her cheek as we looked around for the others. Suddenly, Christie stopped walking and held her stomach. Shit. I took the flowers from her and looked for someone.
"Ow, Justin."
She moaned painfully.
"Hey, help me out here. bro."
I spotted Ryan and motioned him to help me. I had Drew and the flowers in my hands. Ryan held Christie and gave me a look for help.
"Carry her to the room."
I allowed him to carry her, because I already had Drew.
"Justin, is everything ok?"
Kayla and Khalil asked.
"Can you get the others? Meet me in the room."
I rushed in the elevator with Ryan and pressed 6.
"Christie, we're gonna get you some medicine. Just hold on, baby."
I stroked her hair away from her face as she whimpered in Ryan's arms.
"Take her to the room, bro. I'll get a nurse."
I told Ryan once the elevator opened.
"Ok"
Ryan and I went our separate ways.
"Hey, my wife needs help. Her stomach hurts her."
I told a nearby nurse.
"Oh, where is she?"
The nurse seemed alarmed, so I led her into Christie's room. The nurse gave her medicine through a needle then pressed an ice pack on her forehead, because Christie was a little overheated.
"She's pregnant?"
The nurse scanned through Christie's information on a clipboard.
"Uhm, yea. Is that bad?"
I held Christie's hand as I asked.
"No...You should be out by now."
The nurse furrowed her eyebrows.
"The doctor wants her to stay here until this passes by."
I partly lied. The doctor will not let Christie go until her "disorders" are treated, which means they want Christie transferred to a mental hospital. They won't let her leave until she has the baby; then she'll be transferred.
"Oh, ok. Let me know if there's any problems."
The nurse smiled before leaving.
"Do you feel better, babe?"
I pressed the ice pack on her head for her.
"No"
Christie shook her head and looked like she was gonna cry. I sighed and set the flowers on the table.
"Can you see if the others are coming?"
I asked Ryan.
"Sure"
He nodded then left the room.
"You wanted this, Christie. I'm not saying "I told you so", because I have no reason to. I'm just reminding you that this isn't easy. It's not easy for me at all...but I'll support you through this."
It hurt me so bad to say that. She's not gonna make it. I know she won't. It hurts so damn much knowing that I'm gonna lose everything that makes me happy.
"I know."
Christie whimpered and had a trapped look in her eyes. I always like to know I'm right, but in this case, I wish I was wrong.
"I think it's very brave of you to do this."
I was secretly breaking inside, but I don't want her to feel worse than she is now.
"Thanks"
Christie narrowed her eyes and reached for Drew. I handed the baby to her for her to hug him close.
"Hey, Christie, are you feeling better?"
Stacy and the others walked in.
"Yea"
Christie smiled weakly at Drew.
"I'm thinking about Subway for dinner. What about you?"
Khalil suggested.
"Sounds good."
I nodded then looked at Christie.
"Wanna share with me?"
I asked her, hoping it was a yes.
"Ok"
Christie nodded, but she looked hesitant. I told Ryan what I wanted, and they said they're going to get the food. I'm staying with Christie.
"You're gonna eat right?"
I caressed her cheek, and she nodded.
"Good."
I smiled softly and moved myself next to her, where she could rest her head on my shoulder.(A/N: Too much homework. I just want school to end! Next post on Thursday💜)
