Taerin stopped walking when she saw a black car. Then a man climbed down the said vehicle but it was not the man she was expecting to see.
Where is Choi Seungcheol?
The man walked to her. "Miss Kim." He acknowledges and put out a hand. "I'm Chris. Sir Seungcheol's secretary."
It took her seconds to accept his hands. The unknown feeling started to eat her all up.
Why is this man here instead of Seungcheol himself?
"He made me come here to personally give you this." He answered as if knowing what she was thinking.
She didn't bother accepting and looking at what he handed. "Where is he? Why didn't she come here himself and give it to me?" She didn't know where she got the strength to ask him.
"Sir Seungcheol has his hands full right now, Miss Kim. And he's apologizing for not showing up personally to give you this and talk to you." The man said still wearing his poker face image.
She wanted to straggle the man in front of her due to anger and pain. But she controlled herself. They are in a public area. She can't lash out there.
She clenched her fist. Was Seungcheol really that busy to not let her be part of his schedule? Is she like that to him? An unimportant appointment?
She didn't even feel Chris grabbing her clenched hands and letting her have what Seungcheol has prepared for her. "He also said that I should tell you that you should not wait for him anymore. And that you should forget about him too. That he's not coming back here in Korea."
She stepped back unconsciously. She felt the world break apart underneath her.
Left? He's not coming back?
"W-when. . . When did he l-left?" she slowly asked, not knowing what to feel.
"He left for California two months ago."
Her chest tightened. It felt like breathing was so hard for her.
California? Two months ago?
Is that why Seungcheol never showed up again after her birthday? It's because he's not in the country anymore? He already left her when he asked him to trust him. That's why he couldn't put the ring on her by himself.
What did she even wait for? What happened to his promises? What about them?
"Don't you really want to go with me to Busan, Taerin-ah?" Her Dad asked again as he knocked on her door. Today will be her Dad's travel to Busan for a sight visit.
She knew about Cart Empire's business expansion and her Dad as one of their engineers needs to do a site visit for the biggest mall to be built in Busan.
She also knew about the news of Shiwon Choi, Seungcheol's father had returned to the country with her wife and some of their sons.
The news about the Cart Empire's downfall a few months ago was all over the news. She and Seungcheol became so busy with their own happiness that Seungcheol never knew about his family's business crisis.
"Sweetie?" She turned to see her Mom standing at her door. "Your Dad's waiting."
She shook her head. "I'm not going, Mom. Tell Dad I'm sorry." She doesn't want to get out and face people.
