"Gosh! You're really beautiful, Taerin-ah!"
Taerin frowned as she saw her reflection in the mirror. "Are you kidding me?" She asked Shin, her one and only friend from middle school until now.
After graduation, they didn't see each other. Yet to Taerin's surprise, she saw her when she was in the Philippines for a vacation. Shin was only on vacation at that time. So on every vacation, they are inseparable. They go here and there.
"Since when did I joke around?" She asked back.
Taerin didn't answer. She had purple streaks under her eyes due to lack of sleep. Insomnia never left her last night. It's not like she's nervous. She's not even haunted by her ugly dreams. It's just that she can't sleep.
She looked haggard even if make-up is covering it. She wondered how she will appear in her photos in newspapers the next day; with the attitude that the paparazzi in Korea, she can surely think of an ugly picture tomorrow. Of course, the whole world despises her, and then they would pour down their anger on it.
"So, why is your expression like that? You don't like it when people tell you you're beautiful?" Shin said while doing her hair. "You don't like it when someone says you're wealthy, you don't like people calling you Dominique, and worst, you don't like to hear Seungch―" She stopped and looked at her. "Anyway, you shouldn't be frowning. Today's your engagement. A few minutes from now, you'll get out on that door and people will see you. Do you want them to see that frowning face of yours?"
Her shoulders sagged. She could remember how and why she is wearing an expensive and beautiful gown now, why her best friend is pampering her, and why she didn't sleep last night.
She's getting engaged. She can't back out now and it is the fault of the man named Choi Seungcheol. If only he didn't turn out to be his father's best friend's son, she would not have done this in the first place.
If only her Dad didn't become friends with the Choi's. . . .
She sighed. She even dragged the dead into her mess. But the point was she wouldn't have to go through this if Seungcheol didn't show up. Why does he have to be her fiancée? Now she had to do some hunting to find a husband.
But that was done. She found one. Yet she still can't afford to get worried.
It's not that she's nervous. Honestly, she's not. She's not just sure of what she's been doing. She's like this when something's bugging her. Her mind won't stop thinking. Even if she doesn't want to think about anything now, she can't help but do so.
Is what her doing right? Could she really trust Dae Han?
He gave her his word and her Mom and Aunt let her do it her way. So there's nothing she should worry about. Besides, she already found the solution to their problem. Finally, someone could help them. Besides, Dae Han won't be on her way if she wants to work in their company and they even settled in leaving separately. So, everything's settled.
She sighed again. Yes. She's doing the right thing.
"I just hope that Dae Han is the one and he would not do anything to drag you down. If I hear rumors that she's doing money business behind your back then I might grill him into a raging flame!"
Taerin's face scrunched at Shin's words. "You're creepy, Shin."
"That man should be afraid of me. Since my best friend only married once in her lifetime."
She smiled at her best friend's words, but sadness passed through her sparkling eyes. She looked down and opens the drawer just below her. She took out a small box, opened it, and looked at the thing inside it. She never wore it after that tragic day. She just let it there, hidden, until she forgot about it. But now. . .
