14 - Park Jongseong

Imagine it's the last day of your second year in university. While all of your friends are excitedly leaving campus to head home to see their families and go on summer vacation, you're standing in front of the airport terminal in a rather grim mood. Your arms are folded protectively in front of your abdomen to give you a sense of security and there's a stiff smile resting on your lips despite your failing attempt of holding back tears.

Over the course of this past semester, you became close with one of the international students taking part in a study abroad program hosted by your university. You had first met him back in your International Business class. The professor assigned the two of you to complete the final project together.

Jongseong was quiet and mysterious at first. Admittedly, you had thought he was rather intimidating at first. The handsome young man always attended class with a serious expression and asked thoughtful discussion-provoking questions. You rarely saw him smile, and when he did, it was only when the professor commented on his excellency in the course.

Naturally, you were timid when you first had to collaborate with the intelligent student. Your conversations would not last long despite you both communicating fluently in English - with you only providing him short responses. He, in return, was not a man of many words either. If he ever spoke more than one sentence at a time, he was always giving you a convincing argument as to why the two of you should conduct your research project in a certain way. 

However, as time passed and as the two of you got to know each other through the countless hours spent together working diligently on the project, you got to really get to know who the true Park Jongseong was. You learned that he's not all as serious as he first seems to be and that he can be quite funny. And while he still does often run on a tangent when he becomes passionate about how to do something or a genuine topic he is interested in, you know it's because Jongseong is very straight-to-the-point and will give you the cold hard facts about anything.

You had also learned that despite being an extroverted person, Jongseong had a somewhat difficult time making new friends - simply because of the intimidating first impression he always gives off. So while he had his solid group of guy friends he always hung around, the two of you became inseparable by mid-semester. 

"Will I ever see you again?" you ask quietly with a sniffle as you embrace Jongseong into a tight hug. When the tall male returns your hug, you bury your face into his chest, stubbornly refusing to let him go.

"I hope so," he whispers sadly, bringing one hand up to place on the back of your head as he combs his fingers through your hair gently. "Thank you so much for making me feel very welcome here. This semester has been such an unforgettable experience."

"You make it sound like we'll become strangers the moment you get on that plane," you grumble into his chest, words coming out as a mumbled string of mess. But your best friend understood you nonetheless and smiles down at you sadly. 

You had thought about taking a week or two to go back to Korea with Jongseong. When you first proposed the idea, he was rather excited about showing you around Seoul and introducing you to new experiences. However, you had managed to land an internship over the course of this semester and the job is set to start next week and will last the entire summer - which ultimately ruined any and all travel plans you previously had.

"We'll call and text each other. You'll never be a stranger to me again," Jongseong reassures you.

"But the time difference," you refute. The tall male winces at your valid point but shrugs it off quickly.

"We'll make it work, I promise. I just know we will."

"Okay," you relent, giving him one last squeeze before pulling back from the hug.

"I'll see you again soon, okay Y/N? 사랑해."

Happy Monday, Dalgis! How did y'all like this Jay Imagine? The original version I posted on Instagram was actually shorter, but I really like it now that I've added a little more to their background and how they got to know each other! 

While we're on the topic of Enhypen, are y'all ready for their comeback in a few minutes! There are still 40 minutes remaining before the Future Perfect MV release as I'm typing this right now and I'm so excited! I really think this will be Jake's era - but they all look so good!
