Imagine you're on a walk at the neighborhood park because your parents are fighting back at home. As you pass by the play structure you used to spend your childhood afternoons conquering, you notice a little girl between the ages of five and seven, swinging on the swingset all by herself. A twinge of concern pinches at your stomach so you walk up to her calmly, careful not to startle her.
"Hi, is someone here with you?" you ask, looking around in search of her guardian. "Why are you swinging all alone?"
The young child looks up at you with big crocodile tears pooling in her eyes.
"I can't find my cousin. We went on a walk together and I got excited when I saw the playground so I came to play for a few minutes but now he's gone." Your heart breaks when a few tears slip down her cheeks and she hastily wipes them away with the back of her hand.
"Oh no, don't cry. I'll help you look for your cousin. What's his name?" you comfort the young girl, crouching down to her height so that you can gently wipe away her remaining tears with your thumbs. When you offer a hand for her to hold, she instantly reaches and holds onto your larger hand. The two of you end up walking around the park for around 10 minutes, not straying too far since you know her cousin would probably come here when and if he notices he's lost her.
Just as you're about to ask the little girl if she knows his phone number, you hear a voice shouting from behind and rapid footsteps approaching.
"Look, it's my cousin!" the young girl tugs on your hand happily before letting go and running to meet him halfway.
"Oh, thank the stars! I thought I lost you forever," the new stranger sighs in relief as soon as he wraps his arms around his cousin. "You need to tell me if you want to run off like that next time. It's not safe for you to go around by yourself. You could have gotten hurt or something even worse could have happened."
"It's okay, Jakey. This pretty lady helped me find you!" the little girl exclaims, pointing at you. At the mention of you, the stranger looks over at you, and at that moment, you swear someone releases a swarm of butterflies in your stomach. What are the chances that this young girl's cousin is dashingly handsome?
"Thank you so much for staying with her and helping her find me," he says with a small respectful tilt of his head.
"No worries. I was concerned when I saw her swinging all by herself so I'm glad I could help," you respond with a friendly smile.
"I don't know what I would have done if I had actually lost her. My aunt definitely would have killed me, that's for sure," he admits.
"Can we take her home?" the young girl pleads, diverting both of your attentions back to her. "Can we please?"
"You can't just ask a question like that. She's not a lost dog," Jakey gapes in horror. A soft blush begins to dust his cheeks to accentuate his flabbergasted expression. You hide a soft chuckle under your breath, but he catches it nevertheless.
"I'm sorry about her," the handsome male chuckles awkwardly while scratching slowly at the back of his neck. "I'm Jake, by the way."
"Oh really? You don't say. I thought your name was Jakey up until now," you tease playfully causing Jake to chuckle in response. "I'm Y/N."
"Would you like to come over for a bit, Y/N? My aunt was preparing dinner when we left the house for our walk so it should be ready by now." Jake asks suddenly. "Plus, she'll be throwing a fit for an hour if you don't," he adds, subtly motioning towards his young cousin.
"Are you trying to guilt-trip me into saying yes by using your adorable cousin as an excuse?" you muse. "How do I know this isn't a ploy to lure me back to your place before you murder me?"
"Right, stranger danger," he nods understandingly with pursed lips. "What if I told you that I would also be pretty sad if the beautiful girl that helped my cousin find me rejected me?"
"How about we let your cousin play on the playground some more and we can get to know each other this way," you suggest with a hopeful smile. "If all goes well, I'll consider giving you my number. Plus, I don't have the heart to fully turn down the really handsome guy standing in front of me anyway."

Happy Monday, Dalgis! How'd you like this Jake imagine? I know this scenario is a little far-fetched. If a stranger ever walked up to me and asked me to go back to their place within seconds of meeting me, no matter how cute they are, I'd be running in the opposite direction. But let's imagine this scenario takes place in a perfect universe where men aren't garbage and genuinely have good intentions 😉😂
To my American readers, Happy Thanksgiving! And to my international readers, Happy Thanksgiving anyway because I am extremely thankful for each and every one of you. No words can ever truly express my gratitude for your support.
I hope you're all staying safe, happy, and healthy! I love you all so much 💗
Until next week,
Dalgi Jungoo 🍓
