Imagine you're in class, droning out the professor as always. It's not like you're disinterested in school. Quite the contrary. You genuinely enjoy learning and seeing your friends every day. However, this one particular professor's lectures always slur into smooth glissandos of varying speeds and pitches like the adults in Charlie Brown.

Naturally, instead of focusing on the lecture, your attention is elsewhere, zoned in down on your lap. Each time you come into this class, you automatically pull out your most current read and you're usually able to get through a few chapters within the hour. But it looks like the universe has other plans for you today.

"Y/N, what's your answer for number three?" the professor calls out from the front of the classroom. Your head snaps up at the mention of your name and you send a panicked glance down at your worksheet.

"Shit." You haven't completed that problem yet.

Just as you open your mouth to give a pathetic excuse, you feel a knee brush against yours underneath the desk. When you glance over to your right, you see Kai, your class rival rolling his eyes and jutting his chin out towards his own worksheet. You and Kai get along somewhat decently outside the classroom setting. But once the two of you are inside any classroom setting, you're both always competing for the position of the top student.

"35," you respond to the professor. He gives you an approving nod before moving on and calling on another student for the next problem.

"Maybe if you get your head out of the books you always read, you would have gotten the answer yourself," Kai huffs under his breath.

"It's not my fault the professor's lectures bore me to death," you roll your eyes before ducking your head down to get back to your book.

Luckily, you're saved from being called on for the remainder of the lecture and you're able to find a good stopping point by the time the lecture is over. As you pack your things away, Kai taps you on the shoulder.

"I need a favor," he sighs, refusing to meet your gaze.

Damn. You knew this was coming. There was no way he was going to give you an answer to a problem for free.

"What?" you ask bluntly, eyes studying his features to try to decode his cryptic emotions. When he looks up his eyes meet yours and they linger for a moment.

"Be my date for a family dinner," he finally mutters somewhat begrudgingly.

"I'm sorry, what-" you gape in disbelief and utter confusion.

"My fake date. Please be my fake girlfriend just for an evening," Kai repeats himself again but his tone sounds much more desperate this time.

"Why would I do that and why would you ask me? I recommend asking a person you get along well with."

"Now that I'm nearing graduation, and since I've always been focused on my studies, my parents keep asking when I'm going to get a girlfriend and when I can bring her over. I'm sick and tired of them constantly asking so I might have lied and told them that I'll bring her to the next family dinner - which is this weekend."

"I still don't see why I need to be involved."

"Knowing my family's standards, my girlfriend needs to be smart and not just a pretty airhead," Kai explains.

"So you think I'm smart and pretty?" you smirk causing the tall male's cheeks to flush a light shade of pink.

"That's not the point," he quips. "Y/N, just please come to dinner with me."

You cock an eyebrow when he urges you again. You like seeing him this eager, it's amusing.

"Fine," you finally agree. "But what's in it for me?"

"Anything you want."

Happy Monday, Dalgis! How'd y'all enjoy this Hyuka imagine? It could definitely end in several different ways 😏

Happiest of birthdays to our one and only Beomie! I will admit, I think I have a soft spot for him since I am also an '01 liner so I hope his birthday has been extra special 🥰

I hope you're all staying safe, happy, and healthy! I can't believe it's already mid-March. It feels like I just started my spring semester yesterday. But that also means that I'm closer to graduating and finally being able to see TXT live for the first time this May 😭

I love y'all so much! Although I would hate to give y'all false hope, I think I might (heavy emphasis on might) foresee some free time coming up in my schedule later this summer. So I'm really hoping to delve back into writing! I'll definitely keep y'all posted hehe.

I love y'all so much 💗

Until next week,
