Imagine you're one of the quiet kids in your class; not exactly a "loner" though. You have a group of close friends you love dearly, and your classmates seem to know your name due to your extracurricular activities. However, you also can't be considered a part of the "popular" crowd like Jake Sim and his group of friends.
Jake has always easily befriended everyone ever since grade school and his good looks and charming personality definitely played a role in helping him build the right group of friends to be recognized by the entire school. You've shared a few classes with him over the years and can easily see why he's so well-liked. To top it off, you were genuinely surprised by his kind and down-to-earth nature when the two of you shared a project last year.
As someone who doesn't normally garner a lot of attention, you were surprised to find a small love letter in your locker one morning. You had opened it, read it, and tucked it into your pencil pouch for safekeeping. The next day when you returned to school, you found another note with the same handwriting. And just like that, each day for the next couple of weeks, there would be a new letter and you can't seem to tell who these letters were coming from. You tried to go to school early and even stayed behind late, but never once caught a glimpse of your secret admirer.
While you're in class one day, you allow yourself some time to glance out the window and zone out. The teacher had just given you some work to finish at your own pace and you had finished a couple of minutes ago, so now you're just waiting for the rest of the class to finish up.
"All done?" your teacher asks just as he walks by your desk.
"Yes," you nod, showing him your completed worksheet to which he sends you a small smile and a gentle nod of approval before moving on to check on the other students.
Just as your gaze catches on a butterfly that flies by the window, you hear your teacher's voice again.
"Jungwon, I expected more from the class president himself. You should be using this time to finish up the work paper I just assigned. Instead, you're here writing love notes and drawing some weird-looking cow?"
You immediately perk up at the new revelation and you search through your pencil pouch for the small notes you had secretly saved. When you unfold one of them, you glance down to the bottom right-hand corner to examine the doodle that has puzzled you for so long. You figured it was a four-legged animal of some kind, but you couldn't quite put your finger on it. However, now that you're truly examining each detail, you can slowly start to see the distinctive whiskers and triangular ears of a cat.
When you look back up, Jungwon is already sending you an apprehensive glance.
"It's a cat," he mumbles under his breath, a faint blush spreading across his cheeks when he catches your gaze before quickly looking back at your teacher.
"Cat or cow, just finish your worksheet and then you can get back to your love letter if you have time left over."
