ch. 41

jisung was sitting at an abandoned playground outside of a elementary school, smoking a cigarette with dried tear streaks staining his cheeks.

he was sat at the top of the slide, knees brought up to his chest. he scoffed when he thought about the words his ex-lover had said to him.

he just so confused as to why he was only apologizing now. he figured it was way too late, like five years too late.

he just couldn't understand why. why he had to come back now, why he had to say that, why when things were finally starting to get better, and why he had to ruin it all.

it felt like he was finally taking one step forward, but then when he came back, three steps back.

it was the same for his mother as well. why did she have to come back now? why she suddenly decided to come back home five years later.

jisung broke down into tears again at the thought, sobs racking his entire body and echoing throughout the silent park.

it just hurt so much.

he wished he was fourteen again, he wished he never met hyunjin, he wished he never came out to his parents, he wished he never did anything. he just wished he was normal.

anything to prevent this pain coming to him.

but then a thought popped up into his little dark face.

if he never met hyunjin, and if he never came out, if he never did any of that, he wouldn't have had a mental breakdown that one night and never would've went for a walk to have a cigarette, then he never would've met the boy with freckles on the other side of railing.

he never would've met the boy who lit up his world.

a sudden ringing from his phone interrupted his thoughts, and he picked it up, smiling at the contact.

"sung? where did you go?" felix's tired voice asked through the phone.

"just went on a walk." jisung responded before he sniffled.

felix hummed, "are you crying? what's wrong?" he asked quickly, his voice changing from tired to more awake.

"nothing, love. i'll be okay. i'm coming back now." jisung said, hanging up the phone and sliding down the slide before making his way home.

once jisung climbed through his bedroom window, he instantly noticed felix sat on the bed, dozing off with a fluffy blanket wrapped around him.

jisung chuckled softly at the sight, talking his shoes and jacket off before laying down beside the blonde.

felix woke up and gasped, hugging jisung tightly.

"why were you crying when i called you?" he asked, a frown covering his face.

"i'll tell you tomorrow, lix. let's go to bed." jisung said, wrapping his arms around the younger before they both drifted off.

——

jisung was the first one to wake up, yawning quietly as he rubbed his eyes.

his sudden movement woke felix up from his slumber, and he shifted in his spot, groaning at the sunlight peering in through the curtains.

"sorry, love. did i wake you up?" felix nearly choked on his own spit at the nickname jisung called him, quickly shaking his head and sitting up.

jisung chuckled at him, "wanna make breakfast?" he asked, getting out of the bed. "no, i wanna go back to sleep."

jisung laughed at him, pulling up from the bed, "get up, lix. it's already past twelve."

felix groaned once more, before reluctantly getting out of the warm bed and they both made their way downstairs.

jisung's father was sitting in the living room, the tv playing in the background while his father read the newspaper.

it strangely reminded the brunette of the day he came out, and it saddened him at the painful memory.

he wasn't curious as to where his mother had gone, but he honestly couldn't care less.

"good morning boys." jisung's father greeted with a smile. the boys said their good morning's to the man and went into the kitchen.

"what do you wanna make?" jisung asked, yawning once again as he still hadn't fully woken up.

"let's make pancakes!" felix smiled, the elder smiling at him. "we don't have any pancake mix though, we can go to the store—"

"no, it's okay. i know how to make pancakes from scratch." the blonde said, and soon enough the two began making the batter for the pancakes together.

felix laughed at jisung when he dropped a cup of flour all over himself, making the brunette playfully roll his eyes at him.

jisung smirked to himself as he secretly grabbed a handful of flour, before surprising felix by throwing it at him.

"you did not." felix gasped, grabbing more flour and throwing it at him.

this erupted in a flour fight, the two laughing loudly while throwing it at each other. not even noticing the elders father walking into the room.

"what's going on—" he asked when felix ran behind him to shield himself from jisung's fistful of flour, which ended up hitting mr. han in the face.

felix gasped out loud, looking at jisung who had the same exact look on his face.

"...oops?" jisung said, an awkward smile on his face.

the man took of his glasses and wiped the flour from his face, while felix slowly returned to his spot beside jisung.

he was expecting a scolding from the man, but he almost screamed out loud when mr. han threw a fistful of flour back at the two boys.

after a few more minutes of the three of them throwing flour at each other, they all got tired out and sat at the table out of breath.

felix shook the flour of his hair, "we just wasted like half the flour." he heard jisung say before laughing.

"it's fine, we can go out for pancakes anyways." jisung's father said, "but we need to change first." he said with a bright smile.
