twenty-nine | one more chance

They sat in the room and worked, nothing else. Jaden was determined to finish the song and then talk about the music video.

"Holy shit," Colson exclaims, "This is a masterpiece," he looks over to Jaden. They finished listing to the final project.

Jaden took a sip of his now tea instead of coffee, "Yeah it is," he said faintly. He was proud of this piece; very proud. "So the music video," he stated.

Colson nodded, "Yeah.." He trailed off. Neither one had any idea how to address it. They didn't know what concept they wanted to go with or what they even wanted in the video.

"I'm at a loss for ideas for tonight, so let's call it a night," Jaden got up.

"Yeah I gotta go pick up Casie," Colson sighed, he didn't want to leave Jaden but ly wanted to see his daughter.

"Do you wanna go get food? Like after we get her," Colson whips his head around. He could be taking this in the way that he was getting a second chance, or it was a friendly gesture.

Colson cocks his eyebrow, "Am I getting a second chance?" He asks.

"More or less, but I want another date where it's just you and me. Got it," he deadpans.

I got another chance, Colson smiles at him, "Thank you! Thank you!" He cheers and hugs Jaden.

Jaden is a little taken aback by it but wraps his arms around Colson anyways. He missed holding Colson and being held by him. They stand there, giving in to each other's embrace and desires. Jaden doesn't realize he missed Colson so much till he pulls away and he feels empty again.

He felt cold, even though he was wearing a sweater. Jaden smiles up at the tall man, him smiling down at him. A pink shade makes its way across Jaden's face, him letting out a light giggle. "Alright, let's go get your kid so we can eat," he lightly punches Colson's shoulder.

Colson chortles, he finds it cute that Jaden is all flustered. He gives him a nod in response and grabs his things. He tells Jaden the address of the restaurant that he was planning to take Casie to. Jaden nods and then goes to his car.

Colson smiles and screams out lyrics to some of his unreleased songs, love songs. He can't contain how happy he is about being on good terms with Jaden.

As he pulled into his ex-girlfriends house to get his daughter he got a text from Jaden. "Drive safe!!" He smiled.

He gave a reply as his daughter got in, "Hey dad," she says.

He looked up from his phone, "Hey munchkin."

She gives him a weird look.

"What's with the look?" He asks.

She shrugs, "Nothing. You just look happier since I last saw you," she says as she plugs her phone into the aux cord.

"I am happier."

She nods, "Good. Now let's go get food," she presses.

"About that. I invited Jaden with me. If that's okay?" He says.

"Yeah it's fine. I want to meet your future boyfriend," she says it so casually that Colson almost misses it.

His eyes widen, "Uhm. What?"

"I said: I want to meet your future boyfriend," she states. Colson is baffled by this, how did she know?

"And how do you know about him?"

"I may have heard you crying one night, and you were crying out his name. It wasn't hard to figure out dad, I've seen the tabloid pictures. You two look so happy together when you would hang out," she explains.

The times that they have been caught, Colson always had the biggest smile on his face; he always did with Jaden.

"Oh," he said, dumbfounded, "Sorry for not mentioning him to you bug, I just wasn't sure how things were going with him," he apologized.

"It's cool. I also know that Megan is pregnant, and it could be yours but I highly doubt that it isn't," she shrugs.

"Sorry for not saying that too."

"It's cool, you had your reasons," she pats his back.

He smiles, "I'm so lucky you turned out this way," he says, fondly.

"Me too."

A roaring laugh escapColson'sson mouth, "Okay no need to embarrass me!" Both Casie and Jaden are laughing their asses off.

Jaden had pulled out his phone and showed Casie a picture of Colson with a face mask on and his hair in pigtails.

"Come on dad!" Casie exclaims, "It's funny."

Jaden shakes his head in agreement, "She's right, Kelly," he fails to remain serious.

"I hate you both," he says, taking another bite of his food.

"Awww you know you love us," Casie whines.

He chuckles, "Yeah I do." The words were missed by him and Jaden, but not Casie. She giggles and moves past it, not bothering to say anything.

"So Jaden, what do you like best about my dad?" Casie asked.

Jaden shrugs, "There's a lot that I like. His personality for one, and I would say his work ethic. I admire that more than anything, but I guess he's also pretty too," he winks at Colson.

Colson blushes and throws him a look, "Yeah I guess you're a little pretty too," he sticks his tongue out.

Casie laughs at her dad and Jaden's antics, "You're both ugly and I'm the prettiest here!" She declares.

Both men turn to look at her, "Yes, our little pretty princess," They say in unison.

"Our?" She asks.

They both blush. They look at each other and then quickly look away.

"Shut up!" Colson laughs, embarrassed.

Jaden mumbled something but neither could hear it. They drop the fact and quickly change the topic to something else. The three of them continued eating and embarrassing each other.

Colson was happy that Casie and Jaden had gotten along so well.
