"Jin." You pull away, and just look at him dumbfounded. You don't know which words you should choose next. You look around as if the right words will just magically be laying around. That's when you spot him. Toji glaring at the two of you. You two make eye contact before you look back at Jin. "This isn't right."
"I shouldn't have... But you can't deny that you didn't enjoy it." Jin responds and you take a step backward, looking straight at Jin. Your mind is hazy, and you can't figure out what to say.
"This isn't right." You repeat, not sure what to say next. You don't dare to admit that you're partially at fault since you did kiss him back. You let him blame himself. You watch as his cheeks turn a sweet shade of pink and he looks down at the floor in shame. "I'm sorry."
"Why are you-" Jin begins, looking up from the ground to look at you. But you've turned and are now walking away. You just think about the awkwardness that will fill up the car once you get in. You can't imagine the tension. But in the end, you don't owe Toji any loyalty.
The marriage isn't real. Your relationship isn't real. Hell, Toji doesn't even like you. The kiss was a mistake, that you'd admit, but it should not be a big issue.
You get to the car and get to the passenger's seat. Misaki is playing peek-a-boo with Megumi, and Toji just sits patiently in the driver's seat. Toji doesn't show an ounce of emotion, which you're glad of. He starts to drive, and silence fills up the car.
There's nothing to say. That's good. Better than what you expected. You like this confining silence better than anything else that Toji might say. It causes an ease in your heart. Maybe Toji finally stopped thinking of you as his wife. Maybe he sees you as your own person again, and you hope that's the situation.
You get your phone from your purse and see the various messages from Jin. The apologies for starting the kiss, as if you didn't meet him halfway. You'll allow him to believe that. You'd wash your hands off for the crime that you, too, committed.
"Mommy, can we get ice cream?" Misaki asks. And you wish you were once again a child, oblivious to the situation. She can't sense the tension. Or at least that's what you think.
"Not today, honey. Maybe tomorrow." You respond. She doesn't push it, instead she goes back to giving her attention to Megumi. She knows something is off, and she doesn't dare to push your buttons.
Toji continues driving, changing to the left lane to take a left turn, except this isn't the turn to go home. You don't say anything even though your mind goes to the worst possible place. It shouldn't take you by surprise when he stops at the ice cream parlor, but it somehow does. A sigh of relief escapes your lips. Toji parks and opens the door.
"C'mon, Misaki." He says and she takes off her seatbelt before opening the door. She excitedly walks to Toji, and he grabs her hand before walking to the entrance. And you know you shouldn't feel guilty, but you do.
"What am I going to do, Megumi." Your hand reaches back to feel your baby's foot. You smile and close your eyes, resting your head on the seat. You sigh, wondering how your life got so complicated. No– Complicated isn't the right word. Your life was complicated before and now it's not that. Your life is just confusing. So fucking confusing.

"Night night, honey." You kiss your daughter's forehead and make sure the blanket is up to her chin. She always ends up throwing it off her in the middle of the night, but you still make sure she is covered properly so she isn't cold.
"Night night, mommy." She responds. You stand up and walk away, turning off the light before walking out of the room and gently closing the door. You don't walk to your bedroom, instead you walk to Megumi's nursery just to check on the baby. The door is closed, so you open it slowly and take soft steps to check on the sleeping baby.
