"IF YOU have twenty-four hours left on Earth, ano'ng gusto mong gawin? Saan ka pupunta?" tanong ko habang mahigpit ang pagkakayakap niya sa akin mula sa likod.
We were currently sitting at the shore, watching the sunset and the beautiful waves dancing close to our feet. I was sitting comfortably on the sand with his legs securing me on my position. Nakasandal ako sa kaniya at komportable rin naman siyang nakaupo sa likod ko.
At dahil nakasuot lamang ako ng sleeveless na bistida, siya mismo ang nakayakap sa akin at paminsan-minsan na humahaplos ng braso ko upang hindi ako masyadong lamigin.

I looked at him in disbelief. "Hoy, anong shrimp 'yang sinasabi mo? Are you crazy?" My brows scrunched in disbelief. Allergic siya sa shrimp tapos iyon ang kakainin niya? Nagbibiro ba siya?
I tried staring at his face properly pero ang labo pa rin. The more I tried remembering his face, the more the memory drifts away.
"Love, sabi mo kasi last twenty-fours na lang ang matitira. Siyempre I'll eat things na gusto kong kainin," paliwanag niya at inayos pa ang pagkakayakap sa akin.
Napabuntonghinga ako. Oo nga naman. Last day 'yon kaya susulitin na.
"O sige na nga! I'll accept that answer."
"Ikaw ba, Lex . . . "
"Hm?"
"If you'll be able to time travel, saan ka? Sa past o sa future?"
That caught me by surprise. I had never really thought about that.
"Kung ako . . . Siguro . . . I would . . . " I looked at the orange skies, deeply thinking kung babalik ba ako sa nakaraan o sa hinaharap. But as expected, there was no sign for me kung ano ang tamang sagot.
Kung sa nakaraan, baka kausapin ko lang ang younger self ko na things will be better in the future kaya dapat lumaban lang ako. Pero kung sa future naman, I would then be the traveller from the past who would be hoping for a really bright and lovely future. Ang hirap!
