New York City - Six Months Later.
Elysian
It happened differently than I had originally thought it would. The dark-haired man's eyes burning into the side of my face from where he sat-arms draped lazily across the back of the leather lounge he occupied. Though admittedly, I'd only come here for one thing and one thing alone. Nights like these were a rarity and never one I would pass up, usually a 'once every blue moon' rarity, the music that filled my favourite club pulsing through my veins like a second heartbeat.
The brown haired man, though handsome and fair to behold, oozed an ethereal aura; darkened by that of the mischief that danced within his eyes. My dark eyebrows screwed together, tearing my silvery gaze away from the dark-haired man and slumping into the hard bar stool. A familiar blonde bartender wasted no time in making the drinks I ordered with a knowing curl to his lips, though I knew four simple shots of vodka was certainly not very hard to fulfill.
I murmured a soft, "Thanks."
Bringing one of the small glasses up to my lips and downing the smooth, lingering spirit that created a somewhat warm feeling through me.
I wasn't entirely sure why I came here tonight. I had been dead set on going home and doing absolutely nothing, but my mind appeared to have had other plans-leading me down the familiar street and into the club. The Illusion had opened several months ago and much to my friends' delight, it seemed to cater to every one of their needs. I had yet to find the spark that the club had ignited within my own friends. The general appeal that brought me back whenever I had the chance, nothing more than the knowledge that I'd never once gone home without a guy wrapped around my finger.I chose to shove my thoughts to the back of my mind as I downed the last three shots. A faint buzz warming my body as I rose from the bar stool and pushed my way through the sweating bodies of people that occupied the dance floor. The sleeveless, black silk dress I wore felt smooth against my olive skin. The v-neck front of the dress accented by the single, gold, dainty necklace shaped like the sun and moon. A dress I had surprised myself with when I had opened my bag that I took to work with me, taking a wild leap of faith that my boss would let me have tonight off.
A leap of faith that had seemed to pay off.
Minutes passed by as I completely immersed myself within the music that pulsed through The Illusion. The club in itself didn't look like much from the outside. Its blue neon sign in all italic font led many astray, but many whose curiosity had gotten the better of them-led them directly into the heart of the euphoric venue. The interior, though modern, screamed of a dark almost academia vibe. The bright, every changing lights daunting to those who had never braved the thrill of a nightclub. Chairs and booths clung to the edges of the dance floor, any and all seating areas pushed off to the side and away from the moving bodies that flocked to the dance floor.
Most nightclubs I'd been to with the company of my small friend group of four always held an upstairs area for those of a VIP status. The Illusion lacked both a VIP section and the hierarchy of other clubs, content to let both the rich and the working class intermingle if they wished to. Yet another thing my friends had taken an instant liking to and another thing that had never truly fazed me; utterly content with living my own life instead of worrying about the lives of other people.
A brush of someone's fingers against my hip drew me from the slight haze that had filled my mind. My eyes darting towards the man that had touched me. The umber-brown haired man drinking in the sight of me before him for several seconds, his dark eyes trailing down my body and then back up to my face. Those sable-brown eyes watching me almost thoughtfully as I took him in like he'd done with me. His lean yet muscular body seemed honed, from what I assumed was countless hours spent in a gym, the black suit he wore flawlessly complimenting his softly, tanned skin.
