Chapter Forty Six

Dad picked me up after school, as promised and we headed out for dinner at an Italian place he said he used to enjoy when he lived here "Good day?" He asked me as we sat in the booth"Fine. What did you want to talk to me about?" I asked wanted to get whatever it was out of the way "Me and your Mom have agreed that it's probably best that you move to LA next weekend" I raised an eyebrow "I can't leave yet" I told him as the waitress came over with our drinks "I have to stay for a while, to make sure Mom's ok, she's only been out of rehabilitation for a week. She still has a long way to go""Your Mom doesn't think you're safe here. What with Neil Hargrove around...." I looked across at my Father as he sipped his drink "Did she really agree to it or did you just tell her that that was what was happening? because Billy did mention it to me a couple of days ago?" My Dad sighed "It would have been an option for you.. If you didn't want to you didn't have to.. But now I know what it's like here in Hawkins for you, both me and Nina think it's best you get out of here as soon as possible" I was excited to move to California, I couldn't wait to get out of Hawkins but that didn't mean I didn't feel sad at the prospect. I'd be leaving my friends earlier than expected. "But what about Mom?" I asked him as the waitress came back over to take our food order. I ordered pasta "Your Mom is going to be fine.. I've already told her she's welcome to come and stay in California whenever she wants to" I bit my lip "Think about it, a whole Summer in California with Billy? It will give you a chance to get to know the place beforehand, as well as getting to know your Sisters and Carol" he was right, there'd be a lot of adjusting
"Ok... Fine. I'll leave Saturday" my Dad smiled as the waitress arrived with our food.

When we got back home Dad informed me that Billy had called earlier to let us know that he had made it back to California safely without being caught by Hopper. I headed straight upstairs to call him "Hello?" Joe answered
"Hello Bro"
"Hi Kat... I'm not your Bro I smirked
"Jeez. Sensitive much. Is Billy there?"
"Yeah he's here. Hold on"
"Hey baby" I smiled as I laid on my front on the bed
"Hey"
"Your Dad told me about what happened with my Dad. He didn't hurt you did he?"
"No, not this time but I could tell he wanted to.. Did you get the job?" I asked changing the subject before he could ask anymore "I got the job" I smiled
"That's great babe!"
"I can finally pay your Dad back and give him rent whilst I'm staying with you"
"Pay my Dad back?" I questioned him
"Yeah.. For the Car" I bit my lip
"My Dad bought you that Car?"
"What? You thought I could afford to just get a new ride?"
"Well. When you put it that way..." I told him I'd be moving to California at the weekend and he couldn't wait. The excitement was building, but so were the nerves.
