Chapter Fifty Three

An hour later there was a knock on my bedroom door "Yeah?" I called out to whoever it was. The door opened as I was applying mascara to my lashes. I looked in the mirror at the reflection of my door to see Billy stood there. I ignored him, concentrating on putting my make up on. I was wearing a skimpy dress, which hugged me in all of the right places "I wondered if you'd calmed down and we could talk" I stood up and went over to my record player turning Motley Crue up "Kat come on?" He stated closing the door behind him and approaching me. He turned the record player back down and I picked up my solo cup draining the last few sips "Oh, I see..." He took the cup from me and smelt it "Classy" I stared at him
"you're calling me classy?" I had to laugh "I caught you fucking my best friend" he went to say something but I stopped him "And don't tell me it's not what it looked like. I have eyes Billy. You need to listen to me. We are done. Finished. Got it?" I went to leave the room "Katrina wait" I turned to him "You're really going to forget everything we've been through just for one stupid mistake on my part?"
"My guess is that wasn't the first time. And no. I'm not going to forget everything I've done for you. If it wasn't for me and my Dad you'd still be at that military school" I opened the door and left, slamming it behind me. I went down to the kitchen and grabbed another solo cup filling it to the brim again "I tried to stop him going up" Joe said appearing beside me "It's fine. Jen here yet?"
"yeah in the yard with everyone else" I downed the drink and grabbed the bottle heading outside "Jennifer, glad you graced us with your presence" I told her "Kat"
"I don't want to hear it" I told her "Let's enjoy your Birthday" I winked at her, taking a swig from the vodka bottle in my hand. I offered it to her and she shook her head at me "Hey Katrina?" I turned to see one of Jen's friends from her college course "Oh. Hi there" I hugged her which she clearly wasn't expecting "Glad you could make it" I pulled her beside me "So did Jen tell you? She bagged a real hottie this afternoon" I looked to Jen as I took another swig from the bottle. My head was starting to spin "Yeah... I accidentally walked in on her fucking Billy Hargrove" I explained "Hey you don't have a drink. Let me go get you one. Wait here" I stumbled back into the house and to the kitchen where I fell into Joe "Woah... Ok. Let's slow down yeah? It's still pretty early" he took the half empty bottle of vodka from me "Jennifer and her friend don't have drinks I was just..." I paused placing a hand to my head "Woo I don't feel too hot" I slid down so that I was sitting "Ok, you need to go upstairs" I felt someone lift me up and some muffled voices "Hey she's my girlfriend, let me deal with this" I heard Billy say "Seriously give her here" I didn't have the energy to fight Billy off so I let him lift me up. I was barely conscious, the alcohol had hit all at once with no warning.

I opened my eyes and for a blissful few seconds I caught site of Billy lying beside me, his arms wrapped tightly around my waist and I felt content. Then the thumping headache and nausea hit me. Not forgetting the reason for my not feeling so great. I unwrapped Billy's toned arm from me "Please, let's just pretend yesterday was all a bad dream" He mumbled into the back of my neck "You know I can't do that" I spoke "I'll ask you nicely once. Please just go. I'm hungover and I'm not in the mood to talk about how sorry you are because you're not" I felt him loosen his grip and the warmth left me. I didn't turn to look as he left. I pulled the covers over my head and went back to sleep.

A few hours later I awoke again feeling slightly better. I was really thirsty so got out of bed, and changed into some clean clothes. Heading to the kitchen I heard voices, those of Billy, Joe and fucking Jen "She's definitely her Mother's daughter" I heard Jen saying. I stormed in and straight over to her "Jennifer... Get the fuck out of my house and take him with you!" I said referring to Billy "You need to calm down Kat!" Joe said grabbing my arm and pulling me back "They're going... I've told Billy the score" I softened
"Where will you stay?" I asked him, stupidly because I knew the answer already, I just didn't want to believe it "Jen said I can stay in her dorm for the time being" I nodded as he came towards me "Just until we can sort this little misunderstanding out" I shook my head "There is no misunderstanding Hargrove. It's over for good this time. There's no coming back from it. You've broken my heart.... More than Chris ever did when he murdered my Brother and that's saying a lot" I turned away to get a glass and fill it up with water from the sink "Katrina come on... That's a bit mean" I laughed bitterly at Jen's comment "Oh please Jennifer. What would you know about heartbreak..." I asked her before sinking the whole glass of water and refilling it "My ex boyfriend hit me multiple times... I know what heartbreak feels like" I turned back from the sink to look at her "Then you should have known how it would feel for me. Now please just go" I didn't give her the chance to respond to my request. I left the room.
