Chapter Forty Two

"Have you seen my eyeliner?" Jenn asked as she rooted through the make up that was all over my vanity table in my bedroom "Sorry I've got it" Stacey announced passing it to Jenn who snatched it off of her. There was a knock at my bedroom door "You girls ready? Your ride is here" My Dad announced from behind the closed bedroom door "Just give us five more minutes" I called back to him. I stood up and straightened out my dress. My hair was curled and pinned to one side and Stacey had done my make up for me, Gold eyeshadow and red lipstick to match my dress. I slipped into my heels and grabbed my clutch "Are you ready?" Stacey asked, linking my arm "I'm ready" Jenn stood up from the vanity having finally finished her eye make up
"Guess we'd better get down there" she announced smiling at us.

Downstairs My Mom was sat on the couch beside Steve and my Dad was stood talking to Josh. I looked to Jenn as we walked into the room. It didn't feel right that Jason wasn't here. But that asshole was history. It was like he never even existed and was never a part of our group "Oh.." My Mom noticed us first "Katrina. You look breathtaking" I rolled my eyes at my Mom "And is that really you Jennifer?" she asked her "How about some photos?" My Mom asked as Dad brought out the camera "Really? There's going to be a photographer at the dance you know? All the pictures will be in the year book" but she insisted and we had some individual photos and some group ones "We'd better get going Ms Carter" Steve announced looking at his watch "We don't want to be late" My Mom nodded at him
"You drive safe Steve alright" My Dad told him
"Of course. I always do" My Dad winked at me as I walked past him"
"You have a good night kiddo... I'm sure there's a lot of big surprises waiting for you" I looked at him "What are you talking about?"
"You'll just have to wait and see" I shook my head
"Alright Dad. Whatever. See you later" he nodded and I said goodbye to Mom before we all got into Steve's car and headed to the Hawkins High.

Jennifer had a flask of Whiskey in her purse which we shared in the back seats on the way "Yo. Save some to spike the punch with Jenn!" Josh called over from the front passenger seat
"Why would I waste this on all of those idiots? This is for us... They should have thought ahead and got there own" she shrugged as she drained the last of it and the placed it back in her purse.

We pulled up outside and all clambered out of the Car. Stacey was already a little unsteady on her feet so Josh linked her arm as we climbed the steps into the school hall. We had some photos taken and then headed inside to dance. After an hour or so we decided to head over and vote for prom King and Queen. I voted for Stacey and Steve and then we headed over to the punch table to grab a drink. "Jesus Christ" Stacey announced as she took a sip from her cup "I think someone did think ahead Jenn" Jenn took a swig "Oh my god. I'm impressed" she scanned the auditorium smiling. But suddenly her face dropped "Oh my god"
"What?" I questioned her turning to where she was looking. My heart jolted as my eyes fell on who Jennifer was staring wide eyed at. I looked back at Jennifer "Please tell me this isn't a dream?" she smiled
"It's not a dream babe" she spoke "It's really him" she grinned wider and I turned around to look again, my mouth dry. I rushed over as fast as I could in my heels "Billy? What the hell are you doing here?" his face broke out in a grin
"Kat" he wrapped his arms around me and I hugged him back tightly, still not believing he was here. "You look..." he paused as he held my hands "You look incredible" I smiled at him. Although I wanted to cry. I wouldn't let myself though. Stacey took hours on my make up "You don't look too bad yourself" I told him admiring his suit "But I still don't understand. What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be locked away in some boarding school in Montana?" Billy nodded "I mean yeah.. But did you really think I was going to let you go to prom with Steve fucking Harrington as your date?" I laughed "Speaking of I got you this? I think it will match your dress ok?" he pulled a Red corsage from his pocket and I let him place it on my wrist, tying the ribbon in a bow "How did you know I was going to be wearing a Red dress?" he winked at me and I shoved him "You're an asshole Hargrove"
"I know" he wrapped an arm around my waist 
"I love you" I told him
"I love you too... I would kiss you but, I don't want to ruin your make up" I shook my head at him
"I couldn't give a fuck" I was tall enough in my heels that I could reach Billy's lips with my own without having to stand on my tip toes. I wrapped my hands around his shoulders as our lips connected. I felt complete again as his hands held my waist. Someone cleared their throat from behind us and I reluctantly parted from Billy to see the head stood there "Mr Hargrove. I need you to leave the property immediately. You are not a Hawkins High Student and the invitation clearly stated Hawkins students only in attendance" I rolled my eyes and looked back at Billy
"No problem. Nice seeing you again by the way" he told her and I bit my lip trying not to snicker. Billy slipped his fingers into mine and pulled me over to the main doors "You're actually doing as you're told?" I asked him. He turned to look at me
"Yeah, you're coming with me" I flicked my eyes up at him
"Billy. They haven't announced prom King and Queen yet and I need to be here if Stace get's it" he looked over at Stacey, Jennifer, Steve and Josh who were stood around the punch table still just looking at us "I'll meet you out front when you're ready" I looked at Billy and then at the head who was standing watching us to make sure Billy actually left "Why don't you just come and say hello to everyone? Then I'll leave with you" he looked behind me at our friends
"Alright. But make it quick" I pulled Billy over to the punch table
"Hargrove what the hell?" Jennifer questioned
"Looking good Jenn.. Where's Jason?" I watched for Jenn's reaction
"Hopefully rotting in hell" Stacey came over and hugged Billy
"I'm so glad you're back. You broke her heart you fucking asshole" he laughed
"I didn't mean to" he replied before looking at Steve
"Alright amigo?" Billy questioned and I slapped Billy's chest warning him to behave but Steve just laughed "Fine thanks.. Amigo" Billy smiled
"I hope you don't mind but I've been ordered off of the premises and I'm gonna take Katrina here with me. That alright?" they all nodded like the answer was obvious. I let go of Billy and hugged my friends "Have a good rest of your night guys. I'll see you later" I waved at them as Billy dragged me through the hall and out of the main doors into the parking lot. I stopped as we came a few feet away from a Blue Camaro. I looked at it confused as Billy let go of my hand to go over and unlock it "What's wrong?" he asked me as he looked over at me
"I thought... Wasn't your Car scrapped? I thought after the crash it.." Billy shook his head
"It's not the same one.. I managed to get another" I blinked
"How did you?.. Did you steal it?" he smirked and shook his head at me
"Just get in Kat" I shook my head and got into the passenger seat of the familiar looking Camaro
I screwed my eyes shut "Jesus Kat.. Wake up!" I said to myself. Billy chuckled beside me as he started the Car up "This is no dream Kat" he told me as he took my hand in his "I'm here. I got a new ride. That's all it is" I nodded but I was still confused as we drove through Hawkins
"Where are we going anyway?"
"Open the glovebox" I let go of his hand and opened up the glovebox peering inside. There was a key with the number 12 on it "This?"
"Yeah..."
"What does it go to?" I questioned
"I got us a motel room" I laughed
"Seriously?" he looked across at me and smirked
"It's prom night... It's tradition babe" I closed the glovebox and held onto the key.

I unlocked the door to the motel "God this brings back memories" I stated as I stepped inside the room. I turned to Billy after he closed the door, locking it with the sliding lock. He wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me up before lying me on the bed in the middle of the room and pressing his lips to mine "I've missed you so much" he murmured against me
"I've missed you too" I pushed him back slightly "Are you going to tell me what's going on now?"
"Let's not talk right now babe... I just want to be with you" I licked over my lips
"Billy... This is crazy. I thought I'd never see you again" he smirked
"Are you kidding?" I shrugged "We'll talk sure.. Just not yet" I gave in to him and pressed my lips to his bringing him back down to me.
