Chapter Sixty Two

When we pulled up at the trailer park, all three of us got out of the van, Eddie headed over to his trailer to grab something and me and Billy walked across the road as fast as I could on crutches to where Max and Susan now lived "I didn't realize this place even existed" Billy announced, looking at his face I could tell he was shocked that they were living here. I didn't say anything as I knocked and waited for Susan to answer. She swung the door open smiling until she saw Billy stood beside me "Billy?..."
"Hey Susan, nice to see you" I thought she'd be mad.. like Max said she would be but she wasn't. Instead she smiled and wrapped her arms around him in a hug. Max appeared and was staring at me wide eyed "What happened to you?" She asked concerned
"Nothing" I looked at the crutches I was balancing on "Ok, well, I just bumped into someone who wasn't too pleased to see me.. just a couple of broken ribs Max. Nothing I haven't had before" I smiled at Susan as she studied me "So erm.. do you two have plans for Thanksgiving?" I asked, changing the subject "Just, you know hanging out here" Max replied "Why? Have you got some other surprise for us" I rolled my eyes at her response
"Actually I wanted to invite you both round to mine for Thanksgiving" I spoke. Susan looked to her daughter and she shrugged before looking back at me "I mean. Sure if that would be ok?" I smiled "Of course..." I turned around to see Eddie hopping back into the drivers seat of his van "Jump in I guess"
"I'll just grab some things. Max, you go ahead" Max rolled her eyes but pulled on her trainers before walking up to Billy "Why are you here?" She asked him looking between us "I thought you guys had broken up" Billy smirked
"Of course not" he told her, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me close. I pushed him away, wincing "Your step brother doesn't seem to understand" I rubbed my side
"If there's one thing I know about Billy it's that he only cares about himself" Billy shook his head at Max "That's not true... Why do you think I'm here?" Max shrugged
"Because you want Katrina but she's finally woken up and realized she can do a hell of a lot better than you" I gasped at Max but it turned into a laugh "Maybe whoever Kat bumped into yesterday knocked some sense into her as well as breaking her ribs" Max winked and headed over to the van, opening the passenger seat door and climbing in "little bitch.." Billy mumbled
"She's pretty great" I lent on my crutches and headed over to the Van "I'm gonna get in the back Eddie" I shouted at him "Can you help me?" He got out and came around to me
"It's not that safe in the back Kat.. you'd be better off up front, let Max and Billy sit back there" I laughed "Are you kidding? They'll kill each other" Eddie chuckled before looking at me, our eyes connecting before Billy came over snapping us out of whatever this was "Help me up?" I asked as I opened the back door "Kat, what did I just say?" Eddie asked me with a raised eyebrow "She'll be fine dude. She can sit on my lap can't you babe?" I swallowed at Billy
"I mean... Yeah, yeah that could work" Billy got into the van and then helped me up. Eddie looked at me as he closed the doors, a look on his face that told me he wasn't happy with the situation, whether that was me being in the back or the fact Billy was with me.. I wasn't sure.

We made it to my Mom's, I had sat on Billy's lap for the whole journey, his fingers were under my shirt, brushing the skin of my hips, but I refused to turn and look at him every time he nuzzled my neck. Eddie opened the back doors and I stood up heading over as quickly as I could. Eddie helped me down as Billy followed with my crutches in hand. I grabbed my keys and unlocked the door, heading inside "Mom?" I called into the house as we all stepped inside. She came in and looked at us all "I hope you don't mind I brought some friends for dinner?"
"What the hell happened to you?" She rushed over, grabbing my cheeks in her hands
"It's nothing. We can talk later" I shrugged her off before introducing everyone "This is ok right?" I asked her "of course it's ok... The more the merrier" she smiled at me "How about you all head into the sitting room and choose something to watch whilst me and Kat prep the vegetables" I nodded for Billy to take them through and turned to Mom "Katrina? What happened?"
"I.. fell" I lied "I was crossing the road and tripped on the kerb, my ribs are not as good as they used to be apparently" I joked
"Are you sure?" She asked, eyeing me
"I'm sure" she passed me a bag of carrots "and what is he doing here?" She asked pointing her potato peeler behind me. I turned to see Billy had returned "I wish I knew" I whispered to myself
"Stacey called me, she was worried about Kat, Jason-"
"After I fell.. yeah Stacey called him that's why he's here" I butted in before my Mom found out I'd been attacked by a crazy person who liked to beat on women. There was a knock on the front door "That'll be Penny and Stacey"
"I'll get it Nina" Billy told her heading out
"You two ok now?" Mom asked. I shook my head
"I'm going to hear him out but it doesn't mean I'm going to forgive and forget" I explained "As much as I love him I can't be taken for an idiot" she nodded
"Plus... Aren't you seeing that other guy now? I take it that's where you've been for the past two days?" I parted my lips
"Eddie? We've just been hanging out... We went to Hawkins High together that's all" I explained as Stacey and her Mom came into the kitchen "We have wine!" Penny announced as she placed two bottles on the table, Susan had already brought four bottles with her "Kat?" Stacey asked "I'm so sorry.. I had no idea" I couldn't be mad at Stacey, she was just trying to help
"It's fine. Don't worry about it"
"You look happy about him being here... Don't tell me you guys worked it out" I snorted
"No. There is nothing to sort out Stacey. He's just going to have to deal with the fact he chose her over us" I shrugged, trying to put a brave face on when really all I wanted to do was cry.
