Four Letter Word..

Chapter Twelve

I woke up early the next morning and had Breakfast with Penny and Kevin. Stacey came down late. Not even ready for School "What happened to you?"
"Jennifer bought a bottle of Vodka to cheer practice last night" she whispered "I may have drank a bit too much" I smirked "Please can I get a lift in with you and Steve"
"Of course"
"How was yesterday anyway? You were already asleep when I got in last night"
"It was ok.. Billy's being a real ass though" she nodded
"I know he is.. He sat next to me in Physics and tried to get me to talk" I widened my eyes "Before you ask, I just ignored him. Told him to stay away from you because whatever you guys had is over" Penny turned around
"Why aren't you ready?" she looked at her watch "Doesn't Jennifer pick you up in ten minutes?" Stacey shook her head "She'snot going in today so I'm getting a ride with Steve and Kat" she told her Mom "Well here, eat this" Penny placed some un-buttered toast in front of Stacey and she ate it up. 

When we got to School Stacey got straight out of the Car and I noticed as she walked towards the school building that Billy was hanging around nearby. He stepped in front of Stacey and she placed both hands on his chest and shoved him out of the way before flipping him the bird. I don't know if I could deal with another day of this "What do you have first period?" Steve asked me as I took my gaze away from Billy "Gym.. Which means I have a counselling session" I told him picking my bag up from the floor. I got out of the Car and Steve came around to my side as we walked towards the School. Billy noticed us and stepped in our path just as he had with Stacey "Get out of my way Billy" I warned him
"You never stopped by last night?"
"I don't owe you anything" I told him "If you want that jacket that badly. Steve will drop it off later" he laughed
"Really? I don't think that's a good idea" Steve seemed to ignore Billy. He didn't say anything to defend me "In that case I guess I'll just burn it" I shoved by Billy and Steve wrapped an arm around my waist "You alright?"
"I'm fine. I can handle it Steve" I saw him look behind us at Billy and I carried on walking "I'm just going to go straight to the councillors office.. I'll see you at break out front" When I arrived Katelyn was already here "Nice to see you're keen Kat" She said as I walked in the door closing it behind me "You know, I wasn't expecting you at all" I sat down
"I think I need this.. I used to see the school councillor, just after my Brother died but there was just too much going on" she nodded as the bell rang for first period. I placed my bag on the floor "So is there anything you want to talk about specifically?" she asked me and I actually didn't know what I wanted to talk about. "How about we start with your Mom?"
"She's doing really well actually"
"So you've been visiting her?" she asked
"Yeah.. My friend Steve has been coming with me" we chatted casually and it was nice to talk to someone who wasn't a friend or family member.

At lunch time I headed to my locker to drop my Maths books off and as I was unloading them into it someone lent against the locker beside mine. I looked up to see Billy I looked back into my locker "Please. Just leave me alone Billy" he sighed
"I just want to talk to you. I need to talk to you" Steve suddenly approached from nowhere
"Everything ok babe?" he asked looking at me. Billy tilted his head
"Hold up? Did you just call her Babe?" Billy stepped away from the locker "Are you kidding me?" I could see his jaw twitching like it always did when he was mad. He went to close the gap between him and Steve but I stepped in between them placing my hand on Billy's toned chest. He was still staring at Steve "Suit yourself" Billy walked away shoving himself through the crowded hallway and out of the front doors. I turned back to my locker and closed it "I need a smoke" I informed Steve before heading out of the front doors and over to our table that Stacey and Jennifer were already smoking at "Hey" Stacey greeted standing up "What's going on?" she asked, a look of concern on her face "Nothing why?"
"We just saw Billy storm out here and drive off in his car"
"Good. We won't have to deal with him in Biology now" Steve replied. I took my packet of cigarettes from my pocket and took one out lighting it up. "Hey guys" Jason approached us and Jennifer lept up giving him a hug "You guys up for heading to the arcade after school?"
"Seriously?" Stacey asked "The arcade?"
"Come on, you were the one telling me yesterday we should hangout after school more"
"I'm up for the arcade" I told Jason
"That's the spirit Kat!" he wrapped an arm around my shoulder and pulled me towards him "Fine, arcade it is... But just know I'll beat you all at air hockey" Stacey joked stumping out her cigarette.
