Chapter Twenty

When I opened my eyes again it was brighter and I could hear movement out in the hallway. I got out of bed and got ready for school before heading downstairs for breakfast "Morning" Penny looked over at me from the stove as I sat down "Morning Kat, how are you today?" she asked as Stacey came into the Kitchen in her cheer uniform "I have practice so I have to go" she told her Mom as she grabbed a slice of toast from the table "Oh.. Ok well Katrina you should probably go with Stacey and Jennifer" I licked over my lips "You don't want to be late for your meeting with the head today" I stood up
"Yeah, you're right" I followed Stacey out of the house and down the driveway to Jennifer's waiting Car "Hey girls, you coming to watch us practice Kat?" she asked as she pulled out onto the road "I guess I am.." I replied. She looked at me through the rear view mirror
"You're glowing, anything you want to tell me?" she asked. I knew she was referring to Billy.
"No" I told her raising my eyebrows
"Steve and Billy got into a fight in the parking lot last night" Stacey interrupted
"No way really?" Jennifer asked looking back at me. I rolled my eyes and tuned out of their conversation.

No one was at School yet and the corridors were practically empty apart from a lone caretaker mopping the floors. I headed to my locker whilst Stacey and Jenn headed to the gym for early morning cheer meet. I said I'd meet them there after I'd grabbed the books I needed for my first two lessons. I wasn't going to though, instead I headed back out of the front doors and sat on the table of our bench and pulled out a cigarette, wrapping Billy's jacket around me tighter to keep the cold out. I watched as students and teachers started to arrive and mingle around the playing fields and car park. Steve arrived with Nancy, the two of them sat in his Car for a while before getting out and walking hand in hand past me into the School. Steve didn't even look at me as he walked by. Sooner or later Billy's Camaro pulled into the lot and I watched as he pulled into a space. Max got out and skated off towards the middle school and Billy got out, a cigarette hanging from between his lips. He spotted me and his moody expression changed into a smile as he made his way over to me. I stumped my Cigarette out on the table and looked up at him "Hey baby" he greeted pressing his lips to mine in a quick kiss. I didn't care that people would see. I was done caring what people thought "What time's your meeting?" I asked him

"As soon as the bell rings, you?" I pulled the slip I'd been given yesterday from my bag
"Start of second period, which is fitting because I have Gym which means I'm supposed to be with the School Councillor" The bell rang and I sighed "You'd better get to the office" I told him as I jumped down off of the bench to stand in front of him "Good luck" I got up on my tiptoes and kissed him Goodbye before placing my bag on my shoulder and picking my books up to head to Chem class.

I went and sat at my desk beside Jennifer "Hey where were you?" she asked
"Oh, yeah sorry I met Billy out front" she smirked
"So come on, you two are together now right?" I smirked

"Yeah..." she nodded happily
"Good.. Tell me the story?" I rolled my eyes

"Well... In short we told each other we loved each other and then fell into the backseats of his Car" Jennifer laughed
"I knew you guys had hooked up.. You're literally glowing" I shook my head as our teacher came in and told us to settle down for class to start.

When the bell rang for next period I told Jennifer I'd see her at break and I headed straight to the heads office "Katrina, thank you for being on time" I nodded as I took a seat in front of her desk "I know you usually have counselling with Katelyn. I've let her know you're here and she's on her way" I parted my lips
"I thought this meeting was about the fight in the parking lot last night?" she smiled and placed her hands on the desk "Well, yes it is but I'd like to discuss a couple of other things with you and I'd like Katelyn to be here to hear as well" I swallowed as someone knocked on the door "Come in" she called and Katelyn appeared coming to sit in the seat beside me "Great, ok so we'll start with the fight in the parking lot yesterday? I'd like to know what happened"
"I left detention last night and Steve was in the lot telling me that Penny had asked him to come and pick me up" she nodded "Then Billy showed and got pissy because I was going to go with Steve and he didn't like it"
"Ok.. thank you Kat" she cleared her throat "Speaking of Billy. His Father and I had a meeting and he let me know that you and Billy have been intimate since you've both returned to School" I bit the inside of my lip "So, we've decided it's best that we separate you as best we can"
"What do you mean?" I asked
"I told you at the start of the semester that you need to stay away from Billy" I swallowed "You told me you were. Apparently that was a lie" I shook my head
"It wasn't a lie at the time. But things have changed. I know who I can and can't trust" she licked over her lips "Just stay clear of Billy please. It's in his best interest"
"His best interest? How would you know what his best interest is?" I asked
"I know more than you think Katrina. I am after all In contact with his school councillor and his Father" I shook my head
"You don't get to decide who I can and can't be around at School" I told her "This is bullshit and you know it" she pursed her lips
"Please watch your language Katrina" she told me firmly "Stay away from Mr Hargrove, or there will be consequences" I rolled my eyes as the bell rang ending second period.
