Surprise Lunch

I decided to get an early night, it was only 9pm but I was a bit tired. I went through my night time routine and got into bed. I had a smile on my face. Oh I have to remember to tell Em I think as I get comfy. I drift off into a sleep, and it was a peaceful one.

POV JJ

I had the best rest last night. No nightmares no worries no waking up at the butt crack of dawn. I felt refreshed, nice and rested. I mean I still have a lot of nights to catch up on but just being with Ashley makes me feel calm. So I'm excited about seeing her today, I know I just spent 2 days with her but I can't get enough. It was around 8am and I was ready for the day, I decided on getting some breakfast with Emily. I was meeting her at a local diner we always go to after rough missions. Since I was ready I grabbed my things and put on my leather jacket. I decided since it was nice today to ride my bike. I went to my parking spots and pulled my helmet out from under the seat. Turning the ignition letting it roar to life. I smiled and spread off to the diner. Once I arrived I parked my bike and put my helmet under the seat. I walked into the diner and sat at our usual corner booth. Since I was a little early and Emily is always late I decided to order our food so it'll be here once she gets here. "Ah! Isn't my favorite FBI agent!" A voice rings out. I turn and smile, "Teddy! It's nice to see you again. How are you? How's your wife?" I ask him. "Good, good. She is going to hate that I got to see you before her. She's off today, you know being pregnant and all." He says with a huge smile. "What!? Since when?" I say with wide eyes. "Well if you weren't gone for so long you would have known" he says playfully. I smile and stand up to give him a hug. "Congratulations Teddy. Tell Maria I'm so excited for you both. I would love to see her. Next time I'm here ya?" I ask him as I pull away. "She would love that. So the usual? Is anyone else accompanying you?" He asks me. "ya Emily is on her way, but you know she's always late. So if you could put in our usual that would be splendid" I tell him. He smiles and laughs, "she is isn't she. Consider it done. It'll be out shortly. Oh and I'm glad you guys are back." He says happily as he walks into the kitchen. I smile and sit back down, not too long goes by until emy comes rushing into the diner, "I'm so sorry I'm late! Sergio took my car keys. I don't even know how he got them, and then he stole my socks. What is up with that cat and my socks." She rushes out as I stand up to hug her. She gives me a tight squeeze and goes to sit down across from me. "Did you order?" She asks. "Don't worry I got the usual. Should be out soon." I say and not a minute later Teddy comes out with our food and coffee. "Ah! There she is! Late as always." He teases Emily, she playfully glares at him but stands up to hug and greet him. "It's been too long. How's Maria? She here?" She asks. Teddy smile hugely, "pregnant at home resting" he says. Emily squeals and hugs him again. We talk for a couple minutes untill he excuses himself and Emily and I dive into our food. "So, how'd the date go?" Emily says mischievously after we finish our food. I laugh and take a drink of coffee, "good" I say. She gasps, "good!? That's it!?" She exclaims causing some heads to turn. I let a chuckle out, "amazing. Best date I've been on, and we even spend the next day with each other." I gush. "oooh! You guys...you know?" She wiggles her eyebrows. I shake my head at her childish manor. "No. We did not...Do it. She fell and spent the night. I mean we slept on the same bed but not together. It was nice, then we spend the day together. It's almost like we've been together forever. We just click right away, but I'm afraid of going to fast to soon." I say honestly. She nods at me, "I get it. But JJ you seem to really like her...maybe even Love..." She says knowingly. I look at her in shock, "no, no I wouldn't say Love. I really like her, but it's way to soon for all of that. It may not even last." I say the last part more quietly but she hears me. "JJ, she really cares about you. I can see it...well Jo I've not met her but from how you describe her I can tell. And don't do that" she says. "Do what?" I ask confusedly. She sighs, "you downplay your emotions so you don't get hurt. You pull away before anyone else can so you don't get hurt. But sometimes you just have to take a leap. I know it can be scary, and I know it could hurt. But it can also feel so good, and it could be amazing. You can't miss that opportunity to feel love, she could be that person you just have to take a leap and trust she feels the same." She says with honesty. I just look at her a small smile on my face, "has anyone ever tell you, you are very wise? I mean when you want to be, but still." I say with a crooked smile. She just shrugs, "thank you. Really Em you don't know how much I needed to hear that." I say sincerely. She nods and reaches across the table to grab my hand. "I'll always have your back. But I'll break her's if she hurts you." She says forcefully. I just laugh and shake my head at her. "You are something else Em" I say and she just winks and me. We fall into easy conversation after that untill we decide to call it, it was 10:15 now. We parted ways after saying goodbye and I headed back to my apartment.
