Accidents

POV JJ

Ash and MK have been very busy the past few days. They are expanding The Row and need a whole lot of paperwork and red tape to get it running. She leaves when I do and comes home later then I which is saying something. It's another night of eating alone which I don't mind too much but I have become accustomed to having her around for dinner. I don't feel up to making anything and I'm not too hungry, but I make a sandwich for Ash when she gets home. I have been making her dinner still and she eats it and thanks me in the morning, so I guess that's something. I just finished getting ready for bed and am now sitting against the headboard waiting for Ash. I jump slightly at the sound of my phone going off making me groan as I reach for it. "Jareau" I say not looking at the caller ID. "Is this Jennifer Jareau?" A voice says and I furrow my brows and pull the phone away to look at the location of the call, Pennsylvania. "Yes, this is she. May I ask who this is?" I ask once I put the phone back to my ear. "Oh, yes sorry. My name is Dr. Newman at Pen state hospital. I am calling you to inform you your mother, Sandy, got into a car accident" she says, and I stand up and start to throw on a hoodie and grabbing my go bag. "Is she alright?" I ask rushing down the stairs. "She has sustained quite a few injuries; she is in surgery now. That is all I can say over the phone" she says, and I silently curse. "Ok, I am catching the next flight out I should be there in a few hours." I say, "Ok, but I would wait till the morning. She won't be out of surgery for a few more hours and then won't wake up till the morning. Visiting hours start at 6" she says, and I sigh. "Ok, I'll see you then. Thank you" I say, and we bid our goodbyes. "Shit" I sigh and then google flights for Pennsylvania. I find one for 2am and book it, walking over to the couch and sitting down. There's no way I can sleep now but I know I need to, maybe I can sleep on the plan. It won't even be 2 hours but it's better than nothing. I send Hotch a text letting him know then toss my phone next to me leaning back into the cushions. 

I must have drifted off because I open my eyes to the sound of the door closing. I glance at the clock and see it's only been about an hour since. I tilt my head back again and close my eyes taking a breath. I hear a small bang and then Ash curse, "Fuck" making me huff a laugh out. "You should turn the lights on. It may be easier for you to see" I say. "Oh my god! Fucking hell! Jennifer!" She screams making me snort and sit up. "Sorry" I say amused watching her regain her composer, "What are you doing?" She asks her hand slipping off her chest. "Waiting for my flight" I say making her frown then look down to see my bag. "You have a case, now? It's midnight" she says. "No, no case" I say, and she tilts her head in confusion walking over to me. "My mom got into an accident" I continue, and she lets a gasp out and rushes to sit next to me taking my hand. "Is she ok?" She asks worriedly. "Doctor says she's in surgery but should be alright. I am going to go down for a few days to help her out" I say, and she sighs a bit. "Do you want me to come" she asks as she rubs my arm gently. "You are needed here. I'll be fine" I say but she shakes her head. "Jay... You are more important" she says but I shake my head. "You will lose the deal if you don't show up to that meeting tomorrow. I'll call you when I get there, ok?" I say looking at her making her sigh in defeat. "Ok... But I'm coming out if you need me. Promise me to let me know, ok?" She asks but I know it's more of a demand. "Promise" I say, and she nods leaning in to kiss me gently. "I have to leave soon" I say, and she nods, a sad look on her face. "I love you, and everything is going to be ok. I'll call after the meeting to check in, ok" she says, and I nod leaning into her touch. A few minutes later I'm ready to leave and kiss Ash goodbye before heading out. 

POV Ash

I feel awful for Jay, she just keeps getting stuff thrown her way. I feel even worse that I can't go with her. I can't even have Lizzie go since she's in LA for her next project. I barley slept last night and waited for her to text me. Even when she did, I was restless, I've not had to sleep without her in a while. I don't know what I'm going to do when she leaves on her next case. Right now, I'm in my office getting ready to go to this important meeting but all I can think about it Jay. "Yo, Sis! Let's go" MK says walking into my office. "Mmm, Ya. Read" I say absentmindedly. "Hey, are you ok?" She asks grabbing my arm as I try to walk past her. "I'm fine Mary- Kate" I say trying to move past her again, but she pulls me back. "Ok, Ya, no you're not. What's up?" She asks crossing her arms over her chest. I sigh and look down crossing my own arms. "Jay is in Pennsylvania." I say looking up at her. "Oh, is she on a case?" She asks worriedly. "No, she's visiting her mom" I say not giving anything away. "Oh, ok... Why is that a problem? Is it because you can't go with her? We just have a few more days of these meetings then you can go out there if she's still there. You can survive a few days apart, Ash" she says teasingly rolling her eyes at me. I huff in annoyance, "I know that Mary-Kate." I say glaring at her. "Her mom got into an accident. She's in the hospital" I say and her eyes go wide. "Oh my God. Is she ok? You need to go be with her I can deal with these twats" she says making me smile a bit. "She told me this is important and I can't miss it... She right if I'm not there we could lose the deal, MK and you know it. I couldn't do much anyway" I say signing and she brings me into a much needed hug. I love my sister so much, I feel complete when she's here. I seriously don't know what I would do without her. "If she's anything like JJ, she'll be ok. JJ will be ok. Let me know if I can do anything ok. I want to be in the loop too." She says and I nod smiling at her as we pull back. "Ok. She is at the hospital now. Her mom got out of surgery last night but hasn't woke yet" I say and she nods. "Ok. I know you don't want to but we have to go. She'll be ok and she'll let you know if she needs anything." She says and I nod. "Ya, ya I know. Ok... Ok let's get this done" I say and she nods squeezing my hand smiling at me. Today's going to be a long day.
