Shortened Vacation

POV JJ:

When I got home I stripped off my clothes and got into joggers and a FBI training tee and went to try and fall asleep, key word try, I laid in bed staring at the ceiling for 2 hours before I got bored. I'm honestly surprised I lasted that long. I ended up going to my office and opening my laptop to go through potential cases.

I don't know how long I was working but I must have fell asleep because I woke up and it was light out. I grabbed my phone next to me to check the time, 6:35 huh well at least I got some sleep. I thought to myself. I put away my work and went to make a smoothie and ate a piece of toast. I wasn't a huge coffee drinker only when I needed to stay up late and/or binge work that's a thing right. Ya it's a thing. I'm making it a thing. Once done I got into the shower and changed into jeans and a basic white tee. After doing the rest of my morning routine deciding to leave my hair down, I grabbed my phone from the charger in the nightstand. And checked the time, 8 Liz should be up by now, I'm going to send her a text.

Smiling I slipped my phone into my pocket and went into the living room. Since it was just past 8 I decided to catch up on some work so I wouldn't be so far behind when my small little vacation was up. I went into my office and started to go though my emails. About 30 minutes later my phone started ringing, "Hello?" I answered without looking at the contact, being to busy reading through an email. "Hey JJ, I know I gave you everyone 2 weeks off but do you think you could look at a file for me?" Noticing Hotch's voice I tune my attention into him and reply, "Hey Hotch, ya it's no problem you know me I would probably seek you out for work eventually so send it I'll take a look. What's the priority on it?" I ask him curiously. "Ha ha knowing you, you probably would. But thank you I'll send it over now. It's an old case from 10 years ago. You may have heard about it, the famous heart snatcher?" "Oh yes that case was fascinating. And the unsub...Robert Docks, right? Ended up killing, what? 9 women over a course of 3 weeks and collected there heart's right? But no one found out why or if there was any other victims... Sorry I'm nerding out" I finish when I hear Hotch chuckle. "No you're fine. I'm glad your interested, he apparently want to talk now and I want you on the case, I want to get another perspective and I trust you. Your one of the best Jennifer." He tells me and I almost tear up on that, Hotch isn't a outwardly mushy guy and really only nods or pats your back when you did good. So when he complements you, you know he really means it. "Thanks Hotch, I will definitely look into it when we're you planing on going down to Texas to meet him?" "Well first of all it's true JJ and second you will be going I can't leave to go down there so I'm sending Emily with you. But your taking point. And I want to make him sit a little so maybe a week, so let's plan on Tuesday for your flight so I want you and Emily in on Monday to go over everything with David and I and we'll make sure you guys have everything you guys need. Sound good?" He asks me. "Sounds like a plan see you Monday boss" I tease him. We both say goodbye and I open the email he send right away and start to dive into the file.
