POV JJ

BEEP BEEP BEEP! I shoot up and I'm awake instantly. I look to the side and notice Ashley's not in bed and I smell smoke making me whip the covers off and run out the room and downstairs. I jump 4 steps up and scan the room not seeing any fire and folloe the smell of smoke. I stop just past the couch and blink twice at the scene in front of me.

POV Ashley

I surprisingly woke myself up before Jay and was able to get myself somewhat ready, staying in my PJs, and head downstairs. It's her birthday today, July 22nd. I'm planning on making her breakfast in bed to start off the day. I had called Lizzie yesterday and she went over the ingredients and instructions on how to make crepes. I think I got it down so it should be ok... I hope. I tied up my hair and got all the ingredients out and started to measure them out. This is actually kinda fun! After the batter is done I get the pan out and spoon in the first crepe. It was going well if I say so myself. I've gotten 3 done so I though, you know what? Let's cut up the fruit so I can get this done faster. Simple, right?... Wrong! Not simple, not simple at all. It all went to shit. Fast. The next thing I know smoke is everywhere and the smoke alarm is going crazy. So I do the only thing I know... Or seen in TV that is. I grabbed a rag and started to fan the place out. That did not help. At all. So I opened the screen door, and now I'm whipping the rag around trying to get the smoke outside. It's not going quite to plan but I think it's going ok... Maybe. "Shut the fuck up! Can't you see I'm trying to get the smoke out! There is no fire!" I yell at the alarm and it goes off making me let a laugh out. "Ha! I told you I got it! I'm doing fine" I say but freeze when I hear a throat clear. Shit. I turn around and but my best innocent face on and a sweet smile. "Hey baby!" I say slightly higher pitch. She tilts her head and raises an eyebrow. My smile drops into a sheepish one when she sets the alarm on the counter sliding it a bit. She was the one who turned it off. Great. "Sorry?" I try making her let a small laugh breathy laugh out. "What are you doing?" She asks crossing her arms and shifting her weight onto her right leg. "making you breakfast?" I say in more of a questioning tone which is not really helping me out. She gives a small smile looking at me in amusement. "I see that. Why?" She asks making me huff. "It was supposed to be a surprise" I grumble out making her walk over to me and take the towel out of my hands. She sets it on the counter and takes my hands. "What's the occasion?" She asks making me look at her in disbelief. "Jennifer, it's your birthday!" I say exasperated. "Yes, it is but I don't want to end up homeless on it" she says jokingly making a me lightly glare at her and huff. "I'm kidding" she says pulling me into a hug. "It was thoughtful of you, but baby, next time just order something and have it sent" she says and I frown pulling away a bit. "I didn't think of that" I mumble making her laugh and kiss me lightly. "Come on. Let's see the damage" she teases making walking into the kitchen. "Hey! I made like 3! And cut up fruit" I point out making her laugh. "I'm proud of you" she says in a baby voice making me roll my eyes.

After we clean up and eat, we get ready for the day. "What are the plans today?" She asks as I come out of the bathroom. "Well Liz wants to have a small party at her house. We have to be there at 2. I invited your team, so they'll be there too" I say, and she smiles at me. "So, what are we doing till then?" She asks "Well, it's up to you. I do have a few gifts. One I would like to give now but the other later tonight when we get home." I say excited for that. She smiles and nods, so I go get the first gift out of the closet. I walk over and hand her the neatly wrapped box and stand in front of her biting my lip. "I know you use the wear the necklace that your sister gave you. And I know it's been hard for you to put it back on after that case. I know you still have it and I also know you loved to play with it when you thought, were nervous or just bored" I say laughing a bit the end making her smile at me and start to open it. "I thought I could give you a new one" I say as she opens the jewelry box. I stand there nervously waiting for her reaction. She pulls it out and looks a bit confused. "I can explain, hold on..." I trail off grabbing the necklace around my neck. "Is this some sort of slang? What does Par I Cr mean?" She says looking at me in confusion making me giggle a bit. "Well, if you let me explain I will tell you" I say a bit sassily making her raise an eyebrow. "Ok bossy go ahead." She says smiling at me making me playfully roll my eyes. "Here, look" I say piecing her necklace together with mine. "Partners In Crime" she reads and looks up at me. "I love it baby, thank you" she whispers and leans up kissing me. She grabs my hips and pulls me into her lap making me smile into the kiss. "I love you so much. Happy birthday" I whisper once we pull away. "I love you too. It's so cheesy" she teases me making me giggle and shove her shoulder gently. "Blame Lizzie and MK. They thought it was cute." I mumble. "It is" she agrees making me smile and kiss her. "Help me put it on?" She asks, so I lean back a bit taking the necklace from er and moving her hair to one side. I gently wrap the necklace around her and clasp it. I trail my hands down the touch it then look at her smiling. "Love you" she says and kisses me again. "Love you more" I mumble against her lips. "No possible" she says nudging my nose.
