Jay couldn't really sleep in the gemstone so she just sort of drifted in and out of consciousness whenever she didn't feel like arguing with Kate.
To say she was losing her battle with the gemstone was an understatement. Worse than that, Kate had gotten an idea and was starting to make a way to get to her friends despite the protection. Jay sighed. I hope Stevie comes soon...
What if Stevie doesn't come? What if something happened to her? What if I'm trapped here forever? What if-
Stop that! Jay scolding herself seemed like a constant thing now, and she was pretty sure that she was actually going crazy. Stevie will save me! I just have to believe in her.
Oh, you're no fun! The gemstone sounded less annoyed and more playful. But don't worry, we have all the time in the world, we'll become best friends, you and I.
Very funny. Jay wasn't sure if she actually loathed the gemstone or if it was actually convincing her, but even if it was, she wasn't going to let it know that. She had to fend it off for as long as she could.
What if I've gone crazy by the time Stevie saves me?
That question was one she couldn't answer. She'd become so confused that she wasn't sure if it was her own though or one of the gemstone's imposter ones, but it was absolutely terrifying and Jay couldn't answer. She wouldn't answer it. Stevie was going to save her! She had to!
Jay hadn't realized how attached she'd gotten to Stevie, but now Jay couldn't even see Stevie anymore. She didn't know what she was doing, she was unsure if she could actually find her. She didn't even know if Stevie actually cared! Was she just being clingy? Maybe...maybe, this one time, she'd gotten too attached, and made an assumption...
Hopelessness swamped Jay as she attempted to shake these thoughts off, but it felt as if she were in deep water, being dragged further and further down...
I could help.
The gemstone's voice was soft, tentative, almost tempting, but Jay knew that it was a trick. The gemstone was probably causing these thoughts, trying to get her to submit.
Go away! Jay thought angrily.
Alright. Jay was surprised that it actually worked. But if you ever change your mind, my offer still stands.
I won't. No thanks. Jay thought at it. Jay waited for a response but it never came, and she was once again left alone with her thoughts.
