Chapter Fourteen

"You're...you're lying." Jay said. "Kate is-"

"You're more naive than you think." Kate laughed. "Kate isn't the Kate you know. Kate is me. Her? Well, she's like you. A vessel. For me." Kate's eyes glittered, looking both adrable and predatory at the same time.

"Then.." Jay stared at her, shocked.

"Who is she, really?" Kate smiled. "Well, she is Kim."

Jay was silent.

Kate blinked slowly. "Allow me to explain."

"Before her, there was another person running the place, though I know not her name. She and Al made a plan; they were trying to combine her and Kim. Some sort of plan to torture Jim and have Kim as a bystander. Though, as most of the plans that you humans make, it went Awry." Kate flicked her fingers. "Their personalities were combined, and they remembered nothing from before the experiment but the name 'Kim'."

"And then, well.." Kate smiled and tilted her head. "They found me. It simply took a little trick, and boom..she had me on her own little necklace. She hasn't been herself since." Kate shrugged indifferently.

"You...you took who she is away." Jay said, her voice hoarse. "You're a monster!"

"No, I'm a gemstone." Kate corrected.

"I could tell." Jay growled. "You just revealed..everything...to me. What's stopping me from telling everyone? You can't do anything to me when the temperature's-"

"So tell me, Jay, since you're so smart," Kate narrowed her eyes. "Why doesn't Stevie know about me yet?"

Jay was quiet.

Kate blinked. "You're cute. You know, you remind me of me, in some form. I really like your personality." She sat back. "It would be a shame if I'de have to take that away."

Jay was silent.

"I'm trying to help you." Kate hummed. "To help everyone!"

"Because this is helping." Jay said, glowering.

Kate narrowed her eyes. "You'll see, just give it time."

Jay rolled her eyes. "I doubt it, but I don't have a choice, do I?"

"No, not really." Kate hummed.
