Goose glided downwards, trying to ignore the scary familiarity. This was going to be different. This time, they were going to do it right.
He cupped a small plant in his hands. From what he'd heard, the gemstone should take anything living, so a plant should work, if his calculations were correct...
With a sharp inhale, he released the plant. There was a deep rumble and Goose flew a bit higher just in case. He saw the gemstone in one section begin to recede...there. It worked! The gemstone was taking the plant!
He nodded to Stormy and they both went down. Jay and Kate were there. They were both stirring, looking extremely confused.
"Wh-"
"Can you fly?" Goose shouted to Jay, aware that the gemstone was starting to creep back.
"I..." Jay hesitated. "I can try."
She grabbed Kate and began to rise, although she faltered a few times. As they flew up, Goose stayed near Jay in case she fell.
They all got to the surface and Stevie nearly jumped for joy, launching herself at Jay and bringing her in a tight hug. Jay looked startled and the fur along her tail rose, but she patted Stevie's head and smiled. "I, uh..I missed you."
"Never get stuck in a giant gemstone ever again!" Stevie said. "I was so worried! Jay, promise me you will never do that again!"
Jay laughed. "I won't."
"I'm...surprised that worked." Kate put her hands on her hips. "Oh well."
"Anything you want to say?" Aelia asked.
Kate turned to the hole. "Fuck you, dad!"
