Within your mouth, there is life As you speak truth, and not lies Bringing healing to the diseased ones Declaring comfort to the distressed ones.
Within your mouth, there is danger As your tongue can't handle anger Like a serpent that spews poison — Those vile words can crush a person.
Within your mouth, there is peace As your heart streams forgiveness Embracing reconciliation like a pillow — Warming a dreary soul, filling heart's hollow.
Within your mouth, there is death For in your heart, there's envy beneath Exclaiming grave curses and condemnation Ending up with war and assassination.
It's not the food which gets through the mouth that defiles the body But it's from the heart which proceeds to the mouth respectively As our minds conceive unclean thoughts, then to actions Such as blasphemies, murders, thefts and fornications.
Our mouths and tongues contain no bones and merely tiny But these are powerful to bless or break anybody Asking God to guard our hearts and to control our mouths are significant So we will utter wisdom alone and not to harm our fellow human.
