Bucky swept his gun around the room, scanning for any hostels as he cleared the back section of the warehouse. He stepped back out into the hallway and continued to the next room. The comm in his ear crackled with white noise and he knew the rest of the team wouldn't be able to hear him if there was an issue. His mission partner was supposed to be following behind him, but a quick glance back told him that she was gone. He shook his head in frustration and tried speaking into his comm.

"Luna? Luna, where are you?"

The only response Bucky received was more static...until he heard footsteps pounding down the hall behind him. He swung around and saw Luna skidding around the corner. She dropped to her knees in a slide and then turned to face the man that had been chasing her. She grabbed a knife from her thigh and threw it at him, striking him dead center in his throat. Bucky dropped the muzzle of his gun to the floor and rushed up to her.

"What the hell! We were supposed to stay together, Luna! You do this every time." He growled out.

"Calm down, iceman. You missed sweeping one of the rooms, so I decided to check it out while you moved on to the next one. It just so happened to be the one our target chose to hide in. Fucker has a pretty strong right hook." She said touching her bruising cheek bone.

She stood and brushed the dirt from her knees then approached the target and pulled her knife from his throat, wiping the blood on the right leg of her suit. When she turned to look at Bucky, he was scowling.

"You should've told me. Why do you constantly try to take care of everything on your own? It's so goddamn frustrating!"

"You're going to end up having a heart attack if you don't calm down, Buck. You know your one hundred and six year old heart probably only beats a few times a week." Luna shot Bucky a sugary sweet smile and then frowned at him.

"I swear to God, if Tony doesn't stop pairing me with you I'm going to kill him."

"Hey, if Thanos couldn't do the job, I doubt you can. Just sayin'." Luna shrugged her shoulders and started walking towards the exit of the warehouse with Bucky following behind her.

Luna Woods was the newest member of the team. Tony had decided to recruit new members in case there was another mad titan wanting to destroy all life forms running loose in the universe. Luna had only been with the team for a couple years, but had come highly recommended by none other than Nick Fury himself. She got along well with the rest of the team for the most part, with the exception of one James "Bucky" Barnes.

From the moment she entered the compound, the grumpy super soldier had been cold to her. It could be the fact that the first time she met him, she said he looked like grumpy cat from the memes on the internet. It could also be because she had told him he needed to lighten up and suggested he rub one out on occasion to release some endorphins, but she was never really sure which one it was. Regardless of the reason, he hated her and in turn she hated him. Tony seemed to like the drama that their pairing caused, though, so he always assigned them as mission partners.

Bucky was always telling her to trust her team, that she didn't need to try and complete the whole mission by herself. Luna didn't trust people, though. She had her reasons. Very good reasons in her opinion, but she would never share them with the team. She planned on keeping those reasons a secret and taking them to the grave. It never made sense why Fury recommended her for the Avengers or even why she accepted. She had a history littered with broken trust and shitty people, that wasn't going to change just because she was working with people who had saved the universe multiple times. Sooner or later they would fuck her over just like everyone else in her life had. If she kept her distance the sting of betrayal wouldn't hurt as bad.
