TW: Mentions of abuse. Always remember that you deserve the best and no one has the right to place their hands on you, no matter the situation. If you ever need a listening ear, I'm always here to talk. You're amazing, one of a kind, and I'm so proud of you!
Luna was sitting in Megan's kitchen drinking a cup of coffee. Luna zoned her out not long after she began trying to make small talk. She couldn't stop worrying about the possibility that Thomas would find the ring. He seemed fine when she saw him this morning. He wasn't acting suspicious or treating her any different, so maybe they were in the clear. He left a few minutes after she arrived, but nothing seemed off.
"Anna? Are you okay?" Megan waved her hand in front of Luna's face and her attention snapped to the blonde sitting in front of her.
"Huh? Oh, yeah! I just—didn't sleep well last night."
It wasn't a lie. Her dreams were plagued by her nightmare and even wrapped in Bucky's arms, she couldn't fall back asleep. Well, not until he had made her come, at least. After they had sex and she was snuggled into his side, it was like a weighted blanket had been wrapped around her and it didn't take her long to fall asleep. The few hours of sleep she had managed to get were at least peaceful as she cuddled to his chest.
Their mission would be over in a few short hours. If Luna could pull information from Megan about her role in the plan and make sure that Ethan was safe, she'd be free to return to the compound with a clear mind. Maybe then she could figure out how she really felt about Bucky and decide if she could give him the relationship he wanted.
"Okay, well, I want to apologize for Thomas again. You know, you're the first friend I've had since Thomas and I got married." She said softly. "I—I hope he didn't scare you off."
Luna looked at Megan closely, scrutinizing her features and all she could see was sadness. She was lonely, desperate for a companion. Luna grasped her hand and gave her a small smile. Megan reminded her of herself from a time that felt so long ago, but also felt like yesterday. That's why Luna had started a relationship with Liam. She was lonely and desperate for a loving relationship. She thought she had found that with Liam, but she had unknowingly fallen in love with a man who was a carbon copy of her father.
There were subtle hints that Liam wasn't the man she thought he was. He was easy to anger, but he had the ability to reign himself in. Instead of seeing how the smallest inconvenience could set him off, Luna applauded him for having control. It was something her father never seemed to have, so seeing Liam restrain himself gave her a false sense of security.
"I'm not going anywhere, Megan. And I'm always here if you need to talk about Thomas, or if...you don't feel safe." Luna prodded.
Megan flinched slightly at her words. To anyone else, it would've been unnoticeable, but for Luna it was as if Megan had screamed it at her.
"You're afraid of him. Aren't you?" Luna's voice was barely above a whisper.
Megan laughed nervously as her eyes shifted around the room.
"No! No. He—he's my husband. I'm not scared of him."
"Megan, you don't have to lie to me."
"He doesn't hurt me. Not badly, at least. Sometimes he'll grab my arm a bit tighter than he should or slap me, but it's my fault. I'm the one that makes him mad."
"That isn't your fault, Megan. Even if you do something to piss him off, he doesn't have the right to put his hands on you like that. I've been through that and, trust me when I say, if he's capable of grabbing you too hard or slapping you, then he's capable of a lot worse."
