Luna was finally being discharged from the hospital and she didn't think she had ever been happier to head back to the compound. Bucky hadn't left since she was admitted and she knew he was just as glad to be leaving DC and heading home. Everytime she told him to go back to New York or at the very least find a hotel, he vehemently refused. He spent every night lying next to her with his arm wrapped around her and his head on his shoulder.

During the day, he'd tell her about his life in the forties and his time with Hydra. He talked about his nightmares and the shame he still felt for every life he took and all the things he did. Bucky even talked about his therapy sessions and how he rebelled against them at first, but now he found that they were actually helping him work through his trauma. It was a lot to share in just a couple of weeks, but Bucky didn't think it was fair that he knew details about Luna's past when all she knew were vague details about his. Bucky promised to give Luna time to figure out her feelings for him, but part of that was letting her know the demons that he lived with.

The doctor had ordered Luna to rest as much as possible, but he also wanted her to walk throughout the day to help keep her mobile and prevent blood clots. Luna wasn't allowed to put a lot of strain on her abdomen, so Bucky would help her out of bed until she was steady on her feet. When she was ready to move, his arm wove around her waist and he didn't let her go the entire time. He would walk with her around the hallway until she told him that she needed to rest. On days where she was too tired or in too much pain to make it back to her room without sitting down first, he'd grab her in his arms and carry her back to gently lay her in her bed.

Today wasn't one of those days. Today Luna was feeling better than she had in days and she was determined to walk out of the hospital instead of being pushed in a wheelchair. Bucky had been sitting in the chair next to her bed listening to her argue with her nurse for the last half hour. The doctor had already drawn up her discharge papers, Luna was dressed and her bag was packed, Steve and Sam were waiting outside to take them to the quinjet, but Luna was too stubborn to just let them push her out.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Woods, but it's hospital policy. All discharged patients have to be wheeled out."

"I don't care about the policy. I've been stuck in this room for two weeks. The only thing I've seen other than these four walls, are the walls of the hallway. I can finally walk for more than ten minutes at a time and I want to walk out of this hospital." Luna argued. "Plus, I have Bucky to support me if I start to go down."

"That's not the policy." The nurse ran a hand across her forehead in frustration.

"I don't give a shit about the policy. Help me out, iceman. You've seen me walking over the past two weeks. Tell her I'm fine to walk out of here."

"Doll, I agree with her." He saw Luna's eyes narrow and he quickly continued, wanting to avoid a pissed off Luna. "Not because I think you're weak, but because I want you to be as careful as possible so you don't end up staying here longer than you need to. We already have an hour long flight back to the compound and you aren't used to being up for that long. Just let them wheel you out."

"Bucky..." Luna whined.

"Please, Luna." He whispered. "Do this one thing for me. Please."

Luna saw the way his brow furrowed and his eyes clouded with worry. A heavy sigh passed her lips and she crossed her arms over her chest.

"Fine." She grumbled. "But I'm walking to my room, on my own, when we get back to the compound."

"Deal." Bucky said quickly and looked to the nurse.

She sighed in exasperation and motioned to the transporter to bring the wheelchair into the room. Bucky stood up and lifted Luna from the bed to keep her from straining her abdominal muscles and then helped lower her into the wheelchair. Bucky slung their bags over his shoulder and walked next to her as the orderly pushed her chair to the hospital exit.
