Four months later
Plans for the wedding were moving along faster than Luna or Bucky imagined. It was mostly thanks to Nat and Wanda's assistance with planning and Tony's checkbook...at his insistence. Luna's head was a whirlwind of colors, dress styles, flower types and arrangements, seating arrangements, and more. She wanted a simple wedding, something on the shore of the lake at sunset with only her, Bucky, and the team. Somehow the girls had talked her into something bigger, fancier, and the complete opposite of what she saw her wedding looking like. They were so excited when Luna asked for their help that she didn't have the heart to tell them they were being a bit overbearing.
Just a few weeks into planning, Luna was ready to run off with Bucky and elope. In fact, she started asking him if he was sure Vegas wasn't an option when Wanda began discussing the different types of font for the wedding invitations...which all looked the same to Luna. Bucky just chuckled and said that they deserved a wedding and that she should just tell Nat and Wanda what she wanted. If it hadn't been for their enthusiasm she might have told them the truth, but as it was, she didn't want to be a buzzkill.
The months flew by and the wedding was coming together faster than Luna realized. She had found the dress she wanted and was glad that Nat and Wanda didn't push her to get something extremely frilly or over the top. Luna couldn't wait for Bucky to see her in the dress. It was the only thing that she would regret if he gave into her eloping request.
"Wanda and I need you to make a final decision on the dress style you want for the bridesmaid dresses. We're going this weekend to find dresses." Nat said as she threw a right hook at Luna.
Even during her sparring sessions with Nat, she couldn't escape the never ending barrage of questions.
"I don't know. Just pick whatever you and Wanda like." Luna responded as she ducked under the punch.
Nat kicked her left leg up to hit Luna's thigh, but Luna blocked it and grabbed Nat's leg to pull her off balance.
"This is your wedding, Luna. You have to have some type of opinion." Nat said as she sprang back to her feet.
Luna dropped her guard and ran her hands through her hair in frustration. One day. All she wanted was one day where she wasn't asked about the damn wedding. She walked off the mat and dropped onto the bench as she grabbed her water bottle. She needed some peace and quiet for a while...and she had a few things to take care of before she could move into the next chapter of her life.
Between her regular duties and planning the wedding, Luna was mentally and physically exhausted. Even though she was just getting back into her normal training schedule and being sent on regular missions, she needed time away from work and the seemingly millions of things that still needed to be done before the wedding in two weeks. Instead of just taking off like last time, she was going to actually talk to Bucky about her plans. She'd already cleared her leave time with Tony and Steve over lunch and she'd be taking off tomorrow morning after breakfast.
"Nat, it really doesn't matter to me. I just want to marry Bucky. None of the details matter to me."
"Did you ever think you'd end up here?" Nat asked, coming to take the spot on the bench next to her.
"What do you mean?"
Luna passed her another bottle and Nat immediately took a swig before wiping at her face with a towel.
"Getting close to us. Participating in team activities outside of work. Falling in love with Bucky and agreeing to marry him."
A half-laugh, half-scoff pushed past Luna's lips and she smiled lightly.
