This is just great. Luna thought to herself.
She was turned on and stuck in a house with a man who was as sinfully handsome as he was annoying. Buck wasn't supposed to make her feel things, especially those things. He was just supposed to be the thorn in her side, the guy that she loved to poke at until he finally reacted. When did she start noticing anything other than the fact that he was irritating as fuck? When had she noticed how beautiful his eyes were or how sharp and angular his features were? When did she start finding the way his lips quirked into a smirk absolutely adorable? And why in the hell did her stomach do that stupid flipping thing when he was being sweet and caring?
It had to stop. She had to find a way to stop it. It was one thing to be nice to him, but to actually open up and let him in, to let herself feel the things she was feeling for him, couldn't happen. All the men she had trusted in her life left her more broken than the last and she didn't plan on ever making the same mistakes again. She was fine by herself and that's how it would stay.
Luna changed into a shirt that fell a little past mid-thigh and a pair of thin cotton shorts. She crawled onto the bed, grabbing a book from the nightstand and pulled the comforter over her legs. She read for a few hours before marking her place and glancing at the clock. It was after ten and she hadn't seen Bucky since she left him standing in the kitchen. She told him she'd share the bed with him, but maybe he had changed his mind after their encounter in the kitchen.
Letting curiosity get the better of her, she got up and walked into the living room. Bucky was sitting on the couch watching a movie, one of her favorite movies to be exact.
"You like Holiday Inn?" She asked as she rounded the couch.
Bucky nodded and continued watching the movie. Luna sat on the other end of the couch and drew her feet up to curl beneath her. Bing Crosby was singing about Marjorie Reynolds' Easter bonnet as Luna settled back into the cushions.
"You like it?" Bucky asked.
"It's my favorite." She whispered, never taking her eyes from the screen.
Bucky looked over at her. She was engrossed in the movie, eyes staring straight ahead. If the hem of her shorts weren't peeking out from beneath the t-shirt she wore, he would almost think she had nothing on besides the baggy black shirt. He couldn't deny anymore that Luna wasn't just attractive. She was fucking beautiful. Her long dark hair was thick and fell past her shoulders. The gentle slope of her nose gave way to soft, pink lips and her eyes were the color of the greenest emeralds.
When she left the kitchen earlier and shut herself in the bedroom, he stood outside the closed bedroom door contemplating kicking it down and making good on what he said. Once he got himself under control, he retreated to the living room grateful for the space separating them. This wasn't a chance for him to get his dick wet, this was a mission. But pretending to be her husband and being so close to her wasn't going to be as easy as he thought when he couldn't stop thinking about what it would be like to kiss her.
"You're staring again, Barnes." Luna said. "Why?"
Luna finally looked away from the TV and over at Bucky. For once, he was at a loss for words when it came to her. No insults, no jokes, just nothing. Luna waved her hand in front of his face when he just continued to stare.
"Fine, ignore me then." She turned back to the TV and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Kiss me." Bucky blanched as he blurted out the only words that came to mind.
Luna's head whipped around and she stared at him wide eyed. Her mouth opened and closed. Sucking in a breath, she turned to fully face him.
"What the fuck did you just say?" Luna breathed out.
