Luna took in her reflection in Nat's vanity mirror and puffed out a nervous breath as Nat grabbed another cosmetic product from the table. Her hair hung loosely in soft waves with one side pinned back by a silver clip encrusted with dark green emeralds. She had skipped the white wedding dress in favor of a champagne color. The tulle skirt flowed loose around her legs and attached to a semi-sheer corset covered in a delicate lace pattern. The short, tull sleeves of her dress attached to the corset, but hung loosely around her upper arms. A silver and emerald necklace and matching earrings adorned her neck and ears. Nat was placing the finishing touches on her makeup as Wanda ran around trying to find Luna's other shoe.
"Okay, what do you think?" Nat placed the cap on the tube of lipstick in her hand and smiled.
Luna looked at her reflection and a small smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. Her lips were a slight dusty rose color and her tanned skin looked airbrushed. Nat had curled her thick, dark lashes to perfection and the gold and light purple smokey eye made her green eyes even more vibrant. The only other time Luna could remember feeling that beautiful was whenever Bucky looked at her.
"I love it, Nat." She said, eyes brimming with tears.
It had been an emotional few days for Luna. Whenever she thought about the wedding, she thought about the fact that her mother wouldn't be there. It was just another milestone on a long list that she wouldn't be able to share with her mom. But the more that she thought about it, the more Luna realized that she would have people there that cared about her. She had finally realized that her teammates were her family. Through thick or thin, they would be there if she needed them...and she was going to have a husband who would never leave her side.
"Hey, no tears. You're going to ruin all my hardwork." Nat chastised.
"No promises once Bucy starts his vows." Luna chuckled and took a deep breath to steady her emotions.
"That's acceptable." Nat smirked.
"Ta-da!"
Wanda appeared in front of Luna and produced her missing shoe. Luna grabbed the skirt of her dress and gathered it up as Wanda knelt to help her put her shoes on. When the shoes were on, Wanda pinned her veil in place and the three of them stood in front of the mirror taking in their reflections. Without her input, Nat was left to choose the bridesmaid dresses and Luna was surprisingly happy with her choice. The women both wore long, off the shoulder dresses in a silky black material with matching heels.
"Okay girls, I think it's time for me to get married." Luna said with a puff of air.
Her body was tingling with nerves and the thought of turning and running from the compound crossed her mind briefly. Running had always been Luna's specialty when things got hard or uncomfortable. She pushed down the urge to run away and took a few deep breaths to calm her mind. She had already run from Bucky once, she wouldn't do it again no matter how scared she was.
"Do we need to handcuff you to one of us?" Nat asked when she noticed the moment of hesitation on Luna's face.
"No, I'm good Nat." Luna chuckled. "Really."
"I'm watching you Woods." Nat squinted her eyes.
"Okay, no more stalling. It's time to get you married."
Wanda handed Luna a large bouquet of red lotus flowers and black roses. The bridesmaids bouquets were the same, but smaller. The three women walked out of Nat's room towards the back of the compound. Luna and Bucky wanted a small ceremony by the lake where he had proposed. The sun was already sinking below the horizon as they stepped out of the compound.
Tony sat in a four-seater Polaris, waiting to take them to the ceremony. He helped each of the women into the vehicle and began driving down the same path Luna had walked on the night Bucky proposed. He stopped just short of the opening to the clearing and Luna could see a cloth runner covering a dark wooden walkway that Nat and Wanda had requested be built for the ceremony. Light music was floating on the breeze and she knew that waiting at the end was the one person she could no longer imagine her life without.
