Chapter 12

"Steve!" Althea called after him. He stoped and turn to look at her. "What is it Althea?" He asked her and let out a sigh. "Are you mad at me?" She  asked as she realized he was angry on her.

"So this is what you've been doing. All those late nights. I thought you were researching on something not make a thing that could kill innocent people." Steve raised his voice which made her flinch but he stopped as he saw her reaction. "I m sorry." He apologized taking a step back.

"I didn't know he was gonna do this. I just thought he was doing this as a  precaution if the chitauri's ever come back." She explained which made him let out a sigh. "I m sorry." She apologized and hugged Steve who was  surprised but quickly regained and wrapped his arms around her waist.

She pulled away from him and smiled at him. "So where are we going?" She asked Steve as she interlaced their fingers together and walked towards the garage where Steve's bike is.

Althea and Steve walked into the Smithsonian their fingers still laced together. Steve was wearing a cap so that people wouldn't recognize him while Althea wore a hoodie and put her hood up. "It's weird seeing you everywhere." She whispered  which made Steve let out a chuckle.

Althea saw as one of the boy there looked at Steve and recognised him. Steve gestured him to be quite and gave him a smile. She pulled him by the arm and walked towards another exhibit.

"Is that bucky?" She asked Steve who nodded. She looked at Bucky and couldn't help but wonder she has seen him somewhere. "I get it now when you said he used to get all the girls." Althea said as she started staring at Bucky's picture. Steve smiled and shook his head. She couldn't help but admit that he was indeed good looking. One smile from him would've had girls swooning.

Althea saw the look of sadness in Steve as he saw his best friend. She realized it must've been  hard for him to live in a different time. To just wake up one day and realize everything is different to know all of your friends are either old or dead.

Steve pulled her to another room where a video was going on the screen and he took a seat on of the chairs and she took one beside him. "That was a difficult winter. A blizzard had trapped half of our battalion behind the German line. Steve, Captain Rogers, he fought his way through a HYDRA blockade that had pinned our allies down for months. He saved over a 1000 men including the man who would become my husband, as it turned out. Even after he died, Steve was still changing my life." Peggy said on the video that was playing.

Althea gave a squeeze to Steve hand that was still laced with hers. He gave her a smile which she returned. "You should visit Peggy." She said to him and let go of his hand.

"Yeah, we should." Steve said and laced their fingers together again. She stared at him in confusion. "We?" She asked confused. "Yeah, she told me to bring you with me the next I come to visit her." He said to her which made her even more confused.

"You talk about me to her?" Althea asked and smiled at him. She was happy to hear Steve talking about her to someone else. She felt the unknown feeling bubbling up in her again. She quickly brushed it off and followed Steve out.

"You must be Althea." Peggy said as she and Steve walked in. Althea took a seat on of the chairs and Steve doing the same. She smiled at Peggy who returned with her own. "I am. It's an honour to meet you Ma'am." Althea said to Peggy who smiled at her.

"Steve talks about you all the time. You're just as beautiful as Steve said." Peggy said  which made her  blush. She turn to look at Steve who looked around awkwardly. His face was turning red which was amusing. "He said that?" She asked Peggy who smiled and nodded.

"You should be proud of yourself, Peggy." Steve said changing the subject. Althea looked at the table beside Peggy's bedside. It was photos of her with her children. She  smiled looking at the photos. Her family looked lovely.
