"No!" Thor screamed as he saw his mother being stabbed through the heart. Althea froze watching her mother drop to the ground. She couldn't move. Every inch of her being was screaming at her to do something but she couldn't.
She couldn't do anything but stare at her mother's lifeless being. She didn't move nor did she cry as she saw her father hugging her mother and crying. From the corner of her eye she could see Jane was there crying.
She could see everything that was going on around her but she couldn't do anything but just watch. She was frozen to her place. At one point she didn't even breath. She kept telling herself that this is just a nightmare that once she wakes up she will be back in her bed on earth.
A part of her knew that this isn't a dream that this is real. She couldn't accept it, she couldn't accept the fact that she was too late to safe her mother. She only worried about Jane, she forgot about her mother who was with her.
She felt anger, denial, regret all at the same time. Althea wanted nothing but to disappear at the moment. She was waiting for her mother to wake up. She was praying that she would wake up and everything will be fine again. But she knew her mother is gone.
Althea didn't know how she was standing in her mother's funeral. She didn't even know how she got here. She could see her mother's body on the boat floating towards the waterfall to join the stars. She could see all around her the people were lighting up lanterns as a way of paying respect.
Althea kept thinking to herself that she should've visited her mother soon. She was only here in Asgard for a day and she only spent about 2 hours with her mother at most. She even argued with her. She didn't even get to say goodbye to her which was the thing she regretted the most.
She thought she would've a long time with her but to have it cut short hurt her alot. Althea didn't know how long she stood there where her mother's funeral took place. She could see all around her everyone left. She was standing alone looking at the stars.
"Althea." Thor called out to her knowing she's been standing there for 4 hours. He was worried about her. She didn't cry, she didn't speak. At one point she didn't even breath. He knew she was the closest to their mother compare to Loki and him. He knew her death hit her the worst.
She didn't turn around as Thor called her. "Althea return to your chambers. It is late." Thor said to her putting his hand on her shoulder. Thor looked at Althea who had a blank look on her face as she still ignored him and stared at the stars.
"Remember how we would run from the kitchen as fast as we could after stealing the cookies that Mari made." Althea said to Thor who surprised. "We were afraid mother would pull us by the ear if she caught us." Thor said and smiled at the memory.
"She caught us each and every time." Althea said and let out a chuckle. "I was intending to bring her to earth." Althea revealed to her brother. Thor could see her eyes were finally welling up with tears. "I was not aware of it." Thor admitted.
"It was few hours before she.." Althea started but her voice started breaking as tears started roll down from her eyes. "Why her brother?" Althea asked Thor while turning to him. Thor's face softened at her sight. Tears were rolling down her cheeks. Her lips were quivering.
"Why her?" She asked again to Thor who hugged his sister as tight as he could knowing she is breaking into pieces. "Why her?" She asked again as she sobbed into her brother's chest.
"Mother where is father?" Althea asked her mother as she walked into her parents chamber. She saw her mother was looking out of the balcony. "Your father has gone to Nidavellir." Her mother responded looking over the city.
