Changbin's POV

-

-

The next morning I did not want to check my phone, as a matter of fact, I was half tempted to turn it off completely. However, my phone ringing wasn't what woke me up, it was Brooke's phone.

"Babe, your phone is ringing," I said into her hair, snuggling closer to her.

"You get it," she mumbled, falling back to sleep instantly.

I sighed and reached over her sleeping body, not bothering to look at the phone and answering it anyway.

"Hello?" I grumbled into the phone.

"Who is this?" Another man responded from the other side of the phone.

My eyes went wide, thinking it was her ex calling, but it was so much worse.

It was her dad.

"Uh, please hold," I said quickly, muting the phone.

"Brooke, your dad is on the phone, I just answered, and either way we're screwed in this situation," I said, shaking her awake.

"What time is it?" She asked, grabbing the phone from my hand, not caring her dad just heard me answer the phone.

"Like eleven in the morning, why?"

"Hey, dad," she said, unmuting the phone. "I'm on a date, what do you need?" She said, skirting around the fact we were both very much so not wearing clothes in this bed.

She put the phone on speaker phone.

"Why am I seeing you all over the news?" He asked.

"I don't know, why are you reading the Korean news?" She retorted.

"It says you're at a hotel with some boy," he said, sounding heated.

"Did mom have you call me? Tell her I'm an adult," she snapped.

"No, I'm calling you, wondering why my twenty-two-year-old daughter is in some hotel with a random man," he said, also snapping.

I had to remind myself Brooke and her family didn't have the best relationship they always were in her business and never minded their own.

"Because I can be." She said back.

"So you went to another country to act like a whore?" He asked, and I knew he was trying to get a rise out of her, but she rolled her eyes.

"Actually, if you must know, I'm dating him, so no, I'm not being an overseas whore."

"Since when did you start dating someone in Korea?"

"Since when is that any of your business?" She said.

"Brooke Jane Davis, stop talking to me like this right now and answer my questions," he all but yelled into the phone and I frowned.

How could someone's family treat them so horribly? I thought.

I had seen the messages from her parents right before she came here so I knew just how badly they treated her. Telling her she's a bad person for not feeling homesick, or wanting to be with them during the holidays. How she's broken their hearts because she's enjoying herself and not with family. How she's never treated them like family. But they never treated her like family either.

"No, you don't get answers from me with how you and mom have been acting this entire trip. I am so tired of all of this and at this point, you'll be lucky if I ever come back home." She snapped at him, sitting up in the bed.

"You are being nothing but rude and disrespectful-," she cut him off.

"And you and mom haven't been? Making me feel like shit because I wanted to travel and not be home this Christmas. Making it so that you mock everything about Korean culture because it's not 'American'. You're both so horrible and I don't want to affiliate myself with that, so maybe I will stay here, see if I care." She snapped and hung up the phone.

"Sorry, you had to hear that," she mumbled, not looking at me.

"I'm not mad, it's okay. I'm more sorry you had to deal with that your entire life," I said.

"It was actually worse when I was younger because of how much younger I am than my siblings. They were both out of the house by the time I hit high school so I had to deal with it all alone. And even now my siblings don't get how much worse I was treated." I saw a tear fall from her eye and I just wrapped my arms around her and held her tight.

"So, you're staying here, huh?" I wiggled my eyebrows, already knowing the answer but wanting her to say it again.

"We'll fly back for a few weeks so I can sell some of my stuff, then we can come back, how's that sound?" She asked.

"Sounds like we need to go apartment shopping," I said laying back in the bed with her.

Brooke's POV

-

-

I smiled at the idea of finally doing what I wanted with my life and moving across the world, especially to be with someone I felt like I should've found a long time ago. As he and I booked him a flight for the same day Yuna and I would be flying home, I realized I forgot to call her.

"Fuck, I forgot to call Yuna," I said, dialing her number on my phone.

As I put the phone on speaker, Binnie kept scrolling on my laptop looking at apartments for him and me. He was talking about finding a really safe place, especially because he wouldn't be living in the dorms anymore.

"Hey, what's up?" Yuna said when she answered, she sounded out of breath.

"I need to talk to you, do you and Namjoon want to come to dinner with Changbin and I tonight?" I asked and Binnie snapped his head toward me in confusion.

"Yeah! Sure, is everything okay?" She asked and I heard Namjoon in the background, something about coming back to the bed.

"Ma'am I know damn good and well you did not pick up the phone in the middle of sex," I said, my jaw dropping.

"You called!" She defended herself.

"Meet us at six tonight! I'll message you where!" I said and hung up the phone.

"Could have been worse," Binnie began to say. "She could've called us last night," he winked and I laughed, finishing looking at apartments with him, planning to break the news to everyone tonight and tomorrow.

It was gonna be fun.
