June 2021, Switch: The End Starts With You premiere...
Interviewer: Y/N...what can we say? The final Switch movie in the saga, are you sad to come to the end of your MCU contract?
Me: God, I know...it literally seems like a minute ago that we were standing in this same spot at the premiere of the first movie so to be finally at the end of Tate's story is quite surreal. But I'm also looking forward to a break, I feel like I've been travelling around filming none stop so I'm looking forward just to spending time with the family.
Interviewer: You've posted some teasers about how Tate's story will come to an end, is it going to be the ending we all want to see, or are you leaving on an open end with the potential to come back?
Me: Ah look, being part of the MCU has been one of the greatest achievements I think I'll ever have in my career to be honest, so it's really bittersweet almost to see the journey come to an end. I don't want to spoil the ending, but I will say that Tate's story ends with her being finally happy, and where she always wanted to be, and I'm happy with how I'll be leaving the MCU.
Interviewer: And finally, how is Scarlett? I know she hasn't been able to come tonight.
Me: She's great, yeah! I think what people have to remember is that she's nearly 8 months pregnant, so I think she deserves a break once in a while. Just quickly I'd just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who worked to get this movie turned around as quickly as they did because it was an absolutely mammoth task, thanks!I take to the red carpet, signing posters and taking photos with the fans, before joining the cast; Tessa Thompson, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Jamie Dornan, Xochitl Gomez and Selena Gomez for some group photos.
We watch the movie, everyone gives a standing ovation and I take to the stage with Ryan Murphy, the director. I didn't realise how much this meant to me, the tears start.
Me: Thank you so much for coming tonight everyone. I've played Tatiana for a hell of a long time now, and I wouldn't be lying if I said I wanted to do another 3 movies with her, but now is definitely the time to let her go, and be happy with Nat, finally. I never cry so you can tell this has been a mad one for me. It's been an absolutely unbelievable journey and what a bunch of stories I get to tell my kids and my grandkids one day. I think there are only a couple of people I really have to thank. Firstly Kevin, from day one you believed in me and everything about Switch, that's a debt I'll never be able to repay. What you've given me, is nothing short of a dream come true. You and the team at Marvel have stood by me in tough times, and have continued to put faith in my creativity, thank you so, so much. And finally to the huge female powerhouses that came before me; Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Brie Larson, Liz Olsen, Evangeline Lilly, Hayley Atwell, Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana, Cobie Smulders, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily VanCamp, Zendaya, the list literally goes on...you guys are the reason why the MCU is as special as it is today. You're all paving the way for young women and girls to dream big and never give up. Namely Hayley, Natalie, Gwyneth, Scarlett...thank you for being my inspirations. I was just a kid who loved movies, and you guys changed my life. Thank you so much everyone, from the bottom of my heart. This has been the most amazing journey.
Ryan: I just quickly want to say that I've never worked with someone quite like Y/N. Her commitment and dedication to her work is quite honestly second to none. She has been a true trailblazer on the Marvel journey. Y/N, you're still so young, but you've achieved so much in the few movies within the MCU. Thank you for choosing me to be part of this final story with you, thank you for everything you do for people all over the world. But what I love most about you is your absolute selflessness. You're always the first to say hello to every single person on set, some days when we're under time pressure it's a little annoying. But seriously, thank you for being the brightest star in a sky full of darkness. It's been an absolute pleasure to work with you and get to know you, and I think I speak for everyone when we say we're really going to miss you as Switch.
