The life of a newbie in Hollywood and Scarlett Johansson. Will life ever be easy for them?
I'm working on another book right now, the story of Switch, as referenced in this book. Would anyone like to read about that made up story too?
Me: "Did you have fun in London?" Rose: "So much fun! Cosmo made himself sick from eating too many donuts though." Me: "Sounds like him. How's school? You both doing okay?" Cosmo: "Yeah, I have a new friend called Flash. He's cool." Me: "That's great dude! Okay, I gotta go, but call me tomorrow okay? And if you need anyone to come over that isn't Mom, go knock on LG." Rose & Cosmo: "Love you Mom, see you at Christmas!"
I put the FaceTime down and make my way to the set to be interviewed by Jimmy Fallon after I announced a was releasing a new album. The team managed to rush the album as I had so many fully finished songs to choose from.
Jimmy: Please welcome...Y/N Y/L/N-Johansson!
The audience cheers as I wave and sit on the chair next to Jimmy.
Jimmy: Y/N, hello! It's been so long, I barely recognised you! Me: I know, had a few things going on, but I'm so glad to be here. I missed you! Jimmy: So how's it going? Me: Great yeah! I've been so, so busy working on the album and travelling to and from New York every few weeks so it's been a little crazy, but yeah! Jimmy: I'm sorry to hear that you and Scarlett split. Me: I still have no idea how that got out, but these things happen for a reason, and there's no love lost. I'll always love her, and I'll always be in love with her, there's nobody else in the world for me, so if I can't be with her then that's okay. I just want her to be happy, and ultimately if that means that I'm just there to coparent, then I'm totally okay with that. She's always brought out the best version of me, so being on my own has been really hard. Jimmy: Do you miss her? Me: Of course I do, every second of the day I think about her. We didn't spend nearly 10 years together to be like this. I'm doing what she needs me to do for her to be happy, because ultimately that's the only thing that will ever matter to me. I still have her last name, so it's hard to even listen to that at the moment. We're just taking it day by day and trying to communicate with each other about various things. So I have hope for a brighter future.
The audience claps.
Jimmy: So talk to me about the album, You Win Some, You Lose Some? Me: Yeah for sure! It's basically a collection of songs I've written about my life, I'm excited for everyone to hear it. I think we had around 300 songs to choose from that I'd written and recorded from being a kid, all the way to now. Jimmy: 300 songs?! Me: 300 songs. Jimmy: That's great! And what're your plans for Christmas? Me: I'm off back to New York to see the kids, I'm driving across the country again so it'll take me I think around a week to get there. I've actually enjoyed driving around the states a lot recently, seeing places I wouldn't normally see. Jimmy: That sounds amazing!
We carry on the interview until it ends, and I head backstage, collect my things and drive back home, to Malibu.
I park up on the driveway, walking in the door and dump my stuff on the side table, before kicking my shoes off and throwing myself on the couch. I check my phone, Scarlett's called me 4 times today, to add to the 3 times in the night. She's also texted me.
