I pull up in the parking lot of the park and pick up my sunglasses to put on, with Scarlett already having hers on. I hand Cosmo his cap.

Me: Okay, so you guys need to just stay next to the car for a second before running off. There's a lot of paparazzi here so we have to stick together.

Cosmo and Rose get out of the car as we do and head to the trunk to pull out the picnic and other things. Cosmo goes to run off with the dog, but I grab his hand gently.

Me: Woah little guy, what did I just say?
Cosmo: Sorry Mom.
Me: Just one second and you're good to go.
Rose: Did you put the ball in here?
Me: It's in the right side footwell in the front honey, can you grab it?

She grabs the ball from the passenger side as Scarlett checks to make sure nobody can see her bruising.

Me: It looks okay, you can't see anything.
Scarlett: I know. I'm just worried that if you can even see a tiny bit that they'll swing something to make it look worse than it is.
Me: If they do then we'll work it out, don't worry. Today's a good day.
Scarlett: Yeah, yeah it is. I'll grab the blankets and the picnic. Cos? Could you stay with me if you aren't playing soccer please?

He nods and takes Scarlett's hand as I pull out mine and Rose's boots, and we head over to the soccer pitch. Scarlett sets up camp with Cosmo and Cooper so she can watch, and Rose and I plant our stuff, before running with the ball.

Me: Okay boss, it's your session. What're we working on?
Rose: Um, coach wants me to play on the right and cross the ball to the striker, so crossing?
Me: You wanna be a goalscorer too or just playmaker?
Rose: Coach says...
Me: What do you wanna be, honey? Not your coach or your team, you.
Rose: I think I wanna try and be a professional, so I wanna score goals too.
Me: Okay, so...what, professional soccer player? You don't wanna act?
Rose: Is that okay? Can I do that?
Me: Of course you can, you can be whatever you want to be. As long as you're enjoying playing football...sorry, soccer, then I'm okay with that. Okay, shall we do some crossing then maybe work on some drills?

She nods and takes the ball across to the wing.

Me: Okay, so that pole just there represents the defender for now. So if you imagine that player trying to stop you, and you need to get the ball to me, so I can put it in the net, sound good?
Rose: Yeah, cool.

She crosses over and over again, landing them perfectly at me.

Me: Why are we practising this when you have it down?
Rose: Coach won't start me.
Me: What? Why?
Rose: He said I need to learn what it's like to not get my own way all the time.
Me: He said that?
Rose: He said because I come home and probably have everything that I should learn to be humble. The girl he picks instead isn't very good, but it's his daughter.
Me: I'll talk to him when you next have practice, okay?
Rose: I don't want any trouble.
Me: No trouble, I'll just talk to him. I promise.
Rose: I'm just trying to get better in case he does start me.
Me: When's your next game?
Rose: Saturday morning. Frankie said she'd take me. We're playing against Jessica's team.
Me: I'll take you.
Rose: But you're back in LA.
Me: I'm staying here, I'll take you.

She grabs me as I'm tying my lace and pulls me into a hug.

Rose: You're serious? You're staying?!
Me: Rose, honey...I can't breathe.

She releases me laughing.

Me: Yes, I'm staying. I haven't told Cosmo yet, but I'm gonna stay so I can spend more time working things out with your Mom and spend more time with you.
Rose: Thank you Mom, thank you, thank you!
