I park up at Alnwick Gardens the next day, and toss Scarlett her hat, putting a cap and sunglasses on myself, just as Cosmo calls.
Me: "Hey buddy!"
He smiles and kisses the camera.
Cosmo: "Hi Mom!" Scarlett: "Hey sweetie, how are you?"
He puts his head down shyly.
Me: "Hey Cos? It's okay, you can talk to Mom, she's still your Mom." Cosmo: "I'm okay, thanks for asking." Scarlett: "Good. I'm glad." Me: "So what's up?" Cosmo: "Liz came over today, she was looking for you." Me: "Did she say why?" Cosmo: "No, I told her where you were and what was going on though. She said you should go and see her when you're back." Me: "Got it." Cosmo: "I have parent teacher conferences when you get home that I have to ask you to go to too." Me: "Alrighty then. Was that it? Or do you have anything else for me?" Cosmo: "Just that I miss you, but it's only...20 days till you come home." Me: "I'll bring you something cool back, how does that sound?" Cosmo: "Thanks Mom, I love you." Me: "I love you too dude, see you soon okay?" Scarlett: "I love you honey, see you later." Cosmo: "See ya."
I put the phone in my pocket and hold my hand out for Scarlett to hold, which she hesitantly takes.
Me: Moral support because Cosmo's still giving you shit. Scarlett: Uh huh, sure.
She smirks and drags me to pay for entry. Once we pay, I grab us coffees from the cafeteria and we head outside.
Fan: Can I get a photo? Me: Yeah, of course.
I smile for the selfie, then he asks the same of Scarlett, who obliges, then he gets on his way.
Me: It seems you've come here and now we're being recognised everywhere we go. It's only a matter of time before the paps figure it out. Scarlett: Ollie made a deal with all the big outlets to give you some time alone, they won't come for you. Me: He did? Scarlett: Yeah, they were pretty okay about it actually. From what Ollie said, they agreed to back off when you're back too. Me: Are we in the multiverse right now? That's unheard of. Scarlett: I think he probably threatened with something considering how much shit they've dragged you through over the last few years. Me: It feels like I've just had a jail sentence reduced.
We wander around the gardens before heading into the treehouse for lunch.
