Hailee and I sit in the studio, writing after laying down a backing track.
Me: So how about we go with something like "I've been seeing lonely people in crowded rooms." Then something like "covering their old heartbreaks with new tattoos."
Hailee: I fucking love that so much. What're you thinking about?
Me: Well, the tattoos are my tattoos, they cover a lot of shit. But I'm thinking about something like LA and a girl meaning the same thing, so maybe like referring to them as the city? LA is gonna break your heart, and so is she, kind of thing.
Hailee: You're so good at this.
We carry on writing the song till we have the full thing written.
Hailee: Okay, wanna just sing over it and see what sounds good for now?
Me: Go for it.
I play the backing track.

Me: No way.

A few days later, Hailee's label give her the go ahead to release the single after a crazy quick turn around in the studio. We shot a single cover in my back garden by the pool, and we released the song. I post on my Instagram a photo of behind the scenes of the cover shoot and tag Hailee.
