The life of a newbie in Hollywood and Scarlett Johansson. Will life ever be easy for them?
I'm working on another book right now, the story of Switch, as referenced in this book. Would anyone like to read about that made up story too?
I pull into a parking spot in the parking lot opposite the hotel in Chicago after the 14 hour trip over here. It's late, and we're exhausted.
I hop out of the driver's seat, as Hailee and Florence get out of the car, instantly putting their caps back on, and grab the luggage from the car. We head across the street to the hotel and check into the suite for the next few nights.
I open my suitcase, and see that Rose has slipped a note in, reading "Mom, she didn't mean it. We all love you so much, come home soon. Love, Rose x". I place the note in the back of my phone case, facing outwards so I can still read it, and sigh.
Hailee: You okay? Me: Yeah, just tired from the drive. You? Hailee: A little overwhelmed. Me: Flo okay? Hailee: She's fine, she's actually been super supportive. Me: I'm glad.
I carry on unpacking my clothes for the next few days as Hailee sits on the bed.
Hailee: You think she meant it? Me: It doesn't matter anymore. Hailee: Y/N... Me: What? It doesn't make a difference. I have to learn to be on my own now, that's it. End of conversation about it. Hailee: Don't do that, it's me you're talking to. Me: Doesn't matter who I'm talking to. Me and Scarlett are done, she made that very clear. That's just how it is. No going back, no changing what was said, nothing. It's done. Hailee: You really mean that? Me: She really means that, it doesn't matter what I think. Hailee: How do you know? That she didn't just say it and regretted it? Me: You don't say that if you don't mean it.
After unpacking, we head out onto the street, it's late, but somehow the paps still know where to find us. They follow us down the sidewalk as we head into a bar not far from the hotel, being shown into the corner of the bar area and given drinks.
Florence: You two are no fun, I feel bad drinking around you. Me: Don't let me stop you. If it wouldn't ruin everything even more, I'd be right there with you. Florence: I see that as an invitation.
She grabs the complimentary bottle of vodka and pours a measure into her glass, topping up with cola.
Me: Just don't drink all of that, we only have tomorrow in the city before we head out again. Florence: Why are you in such a rush to get back to LA? Me: Well, first of all I want to be as far away as possible from New York, and without moving countries, LA is probably the furthest you can go. And second, I can't keep stalling getting back to work, I have Bond to finish given my foot isn't janky anymore. Florence: That seems fair. So we head to where after this? Me: Omaha. But we're only there for the night, then Denver the next day.
We spend a few hours in the bar before leaving, to an even bigger paparazzi crowd following us around. Luckily the hotel is only a few minutes down the street.
Five days later, LA...
After dropping Flo and Hailee back home, I eventually arrive back at the Malibu house. Luckily a lot of the furniture was kept here, so there's enough for me to stay and build on it again as I go.
