We walk along the beach hand in hand in the freezing cold, the sun blazing in the sky.

Scarlett: This is my surprise? Coming to Cape May?
Me: Would you just be patient about this surprise. We're having a nice day first, is that okay?
Scarlett: Alright, alright! Is there much to do here?
Me: I have a full day planned, don't you worry about that.

She laughs as we carry on walking, eventually reaching a lighthouse.

Scarlett: A picnic?
Me: Yeah, but wait.

I pull out a flask of coffee liqueur, and then hot storage boxes filled with gourmet food that our chef cooked. I hand Scarlett a fork and wrap the blankets around her.

Scarlett: This is cute, thank you.
Me: I just wanted to go somewhere we wouldn't be found, you know? Somewhere nobody else would be.
Scarlett: Somewhere that we can just sit and stare out at nothingness?
Me: Basically. But if you get too cold we can go back to the car, no stress.
Scarlett: No, I like it. It's beautiful here.

We spend the rest of the afternoon sitting by the lighthouse, before exploring inside a little, then heading back down the beach towards the car, the sun setting quickly.

Scarlett: So...
Me: Okay, so. This is all a little random, I know. And I know we're still married, and happy, and whatever else.

I take her hands in mine as the sound of a plane goes over us.

Me: I need you to know that I'm the happiest woman in the world when I'm with you. And when I look at you, literally how you are right now, with all these layers on and a scarf bigger than me and you together, I see home, my home. I love you so much, look.

I point out at the sunset, where a plane carrying a banner saying "Scarlett, will you marry me again?" flies across the skyline.

Scarlett: Oh my God, Y/N!
Me: So, you wanna do it all over again?
Scarlett: Of course! I'd marry you everyday. I love you so much!

She jumps on me as I wrap my arms around her waist, picking her up and spinning her as passers-by take photos and videos. Our team photographer then comes out of hiding.

Scarlett: You got photos too?
Me: Yeah. I didn't get any the first time, so thought this would be a good compromise.
Scarlett: This is amazing, thank you.
Me: You're welcome. I'm sorry I didn't get you anything, figured you already have enough rings on your finger.
Scarlett: This is perfect. Why now?
Me: I think, just with everything that we've been through recently, it's put everything into perspective for me. And I think finally, after literally everything else on top, I'm finally starting to realise that the time we get here is really short. I don't want to spend it regretting anything. We've both done things that we probably aren't the most proud if, but the one thing I can be proud of is working things out with you, and being able to do stuff like this just makes all the hard times worth it.
Scarlett: Did you rehearse that or just come up with it?
Me: Just came up with it.
