Life or Death?

"Sir!!! Si Ma'am Liza po nawalan ng malay!!"

Humahangos na sambit ng driver ni Liza kay Bong.

When Bong heard the driver and saw the panic on his face, bigla siyang napatayo.

Di niya na malaman ang gagawin.

Sara was lying on the floor unconscious while Liza also passed out.

He was so torn kung sinong uunahin sa dalawa.

Something inside told him to check on Liza too.

Pero ayaw naman niyang iwanan si Sara na nakahiga lang sa sahig.

Sa sobrang taranta ay hindi na malaman ni Bong ang gagawin so he immediately gave orders to the driver.

"Tawagin mo na yung mga PSGs bilisan mo!!!!"

Utos ni Bong sa driver sabay takbo sa labas para e check si Liza na nakahiga sa backseat ng sasakyan.

"Liz...  wake up! Liza!!!" Bong said as he grabbed Liza.

He honestly thought na hinimatay lang ito sa sobrang sama ng loob but his eyes widened when he noticed that her lips were slowly turning purple.

When Bong realized what was happening, he didn't waste any time. Agad siyang lumipat sa driver seat para isugod si Liza sa ospital.

When started the car, panay din ang busina niya to catch the attention of the PSGs na mahigpit niyang pinagbilinan na tumawag ng doktor para kay Sara.

Then he quickly drove Liza to the hospital.

Between the two women, Bong knew that it was LIza who was in danger.

Based on the way she looked when he checked on her, parang may ibang nangyari may Liza at hindi lang ito basta hinimatay.

He was in total panic as he drove the presidential car as fast as he could to the nearest hospital.

When they got there, agad na niyang sinugod si Liza sa emergency room. 

Halos mabaliw na si Bong sa kakaisip as he was pacing back and forth outside.

Yes it's true that he no longer loves Liza as his wife but she is still the mother of his children and he still cares for her.

A few minutes after Bong arrived, sumunod na din ang mga PSGs niya to secure the area. Mabuti nalang at wala din masyadong tao sa ospital nung araw na yun kaya walang mediang nakatunog na nandoon sila.

While Bong was waiting outside, hindi niya din mawala sa isip niya kung ok lang ba si Sara. Gustuhin man niyang tawagan ito but he left his phone in the car.

As he continued pacing back and forth in front of the ER, bigla siyang nilapitan ng attending Physician.

When Bong saw him, he immediately asked.

"Doc, Kumusta si Liza? Is she okay? What happened?" Sunod sunod na tanong niya.

"Hindi po mabuti ang lagay ng First lady sir. She just suffered a heart attack buti nalang at nadala niyo siya kaagad dito. A minute late and she'll be gone. Do you happen to know kung kailan siya na diagnose ang heart condition niya? Kailangan po kasi naming makausap ang cardio niya regarding her medical chart"

When Bong heard what the doctor said, halos hindi siya makasagot.

He honestly had no idea na may iniindang sakit si Liza.

So he answered

"I'm sorry doc but I don't know. She never told me that she was sick. Pero ok naman siya diba? How is she?"

Bong asked in a worried tone.

He looked at the doctor at mas lalo pa siyang kinabahan ng biglang napa buntong hininga  ito.

Then the doctor spoke again.

" Mr. President, your wife will be moved to the ICU. She is stable but in critical condition kaya kailangan naming makausap ang doktor niya. We need to know kung naka line up na ba siya for heart transplant. She is not well sir. Anytime pwedeng bumigay ang puso niya so for now, we need to monitor her. Tatapatin ko na po kayo, based on how her heart is behaving, she may need to get a transplant soon and if this kind of attack happens again, the chance of survival is very slim. Excuse me, I'll just check on the other patients"

Sabi ng doktor kay Bong sabay alis.

When Bong heard everything that the doctor said, hindi na niya napigilan ang pagpatak ng mga luha niya.

His heart was breaking for Liza kasi alam niyang mas kailangan siya nito lalo na ngayon at may malubha pala itong karamdaman.

Pero paano si Sara? He gave her his word at mahal na mahal niya ito lalong lalo na ang magiging anak nila.

"God what should I do? who should I prioritize?
Is it Liza, who is in danger of dying or my love Sara who will soon bring a new life into this world?"

Bong told himself as tears continued streaming down his face.

In the back of his mind, hindi niya maiwasang isipin na baka pinaparusahan na siya ng diyos sa mga nagawa niyang kasalanan kay Liza.

But what could he do? He's just a man na nagmahal ng sobra.

A man who always thought of others first before himself.

A man na puro problema at panghuhusga ang dinanas pero pinilit na magpakatatag para sa pamilya.

A man who chose his happiness over anyone else's for the first time in his life.

Pero bakit parang ang hirap naman maging masaya? Is happiness really something rare for a person like him?

Alin nga ba ang mas matimbang? Is it the gift of Life or the fear of death?
