The next day Sirius approached Edith about actually doing their potions work. She agreed that it might be a good idea. That's how they found themselves in the library at two in the afternoon on their weekend flipping through dusty books.

"I might have found something," Sirius says passing over a book on Polyjuice potions "We could do this, it says its for our year and we have made it before in first year for a prank so it should be pretty easy." He says pointing at the image.

Edith flicks through the pages reading "Yeah, it looks good and we can also use it for a prank while we present we can turn into teacher, what do you think?" Edith asks looking at a slightly excited Sirius.

"I think it sound bloody brilliant!" He exclaims smiling. Causing Edith to release a laugh as well.

"Well, we will have to start brewing it now as it takes a month to do." Edith explains looking at the instructions.

"Okay, lets go to the room of requirement" Sirius says standing up and offering Edith a hand up.

They smile as the librarian as they leave both shouting "GOODBYE!!!" Really loud just to annoy her causing her to release a loud "SHHHHHH" bringing a single finger firmly to her lips. Causing the two marauders to burst out laughing before walking along the deserted corridor to the room of requirement.

The potion starts brewing so the two walk to the sofa that suddenly appeared before both relaxing into the soft leather.

"What are you doing for the Winter break? I think I am going to James's as always." Sirius asks wanting to break the silence between him and one of his best friends.

The girls blue eyes widen slightly when she realizes Winter Break is in two weeks. Which means she has to go home to her charming mother and father who hate her guts for : 1)Accidently becoming a wolf-shifter, 2) Because she has non pureblood friends and 3)Because she isn't in Ravenclaw.

"Yeah..." She answers as steadily as possible "Yeah, I am going back home." She answers vaguely trying to sound like everything is fine. Her parents are away allot and try to ignore her, but when they are home they make her life a living hell, they are literally the Ravenclaw version of Sirius's parents. But of course she never told anyone, she doesn't want her friends pity.

"What, your not excited to see you family?" Asks Sirius looking worriedly at the girl.

"No don't get me wrong, I am." The redhead lies "Its just Hogwarts is the best and I was kind of focussing on the Quidditch match we have at the end of the week against Slytherin." The girl easily changes the subject.

"You and me both, James won't stop ranting about it really. I think if we lose we will never live it down thats why he has been in such a moody mood this week." Sirius sighs talking about quidditch.

"You know we could hit Lucius off his broom with a bludger then say its an accident no one would know." Edith jokes happy that her subject change worked.

"I think Minnie would mind" Sirius says smiling at the thought.

"Hmmm, no I think she wouldn't she hates him as much as we do" Edith jokes causing them both to burst out laughing.

The two walk back to the common room running into Peter in the kitchens they bring him along with them.

"You cheated!" They hear being shouted.

"No I just won, there is a difference." The other boy says calmly.

"Gosh I never knew Prongs could be beaten in Wizard chess?" Sirius says dropping himself next to the fire.

"He cheated." James repeats angrily packing up his game.

"Aww is poor little Prongs a bad looser?" Edith teases opening a letter that arrived for her earlier.

"He is, I won fair and square!" Remus repeats opening a book and starting to read.

Edith's letter reads:

Hello,

Me and your father will be home for winter, so if you want to make your time there enjoyable for our family you will oblige by these rules:

1- No shifting

2-No talking about school or your friends

3-Don't eat when we are eating

4-Don't disturb us

Star will pick you up from platform 9 and 3/4 when you arrive. I expect you to be nicely dressed and suitable for home.

It was from Edith's mother. Her good mood disappears instantly. How was she just not going to shift their was like two full moons over the winter break, no shifting? Impossible unless she wants to potentially hurt someone.

Edith tucks the letter into her robes. She feels so mad, they treat her like a piece of crap on the bottom of her shoe.

She feels herself start to shift. She jumps up and runs out of the common room as fast as she can. With all the boys calling after her. Forced shifts are always the worst because they are the most painfully. She runs outside and screams in pain as her bones start to break and put themselves back together.

Remus's POV

I watch Edith jump up she has a scared look in her eye as she runs. That when I realize that she has having a forced shift, whatever that letter said made her have a strong emotion.

Sirius goes to follow her.

"No Sirius!" I shout jumping up.

"What why, do you know why she left?" He asks worrying looking between us all. He wants answers and Sirius is usually one to get them.

"Yes" I say quietly.

"Why did she run out of here then?" Sirius asks.

"She felt sick earlier." The boy who folds his socks once again lies "She probably went to the toilet to throw up."

"She never mentioned feeling sick?" Sirius asks confused.

"She didn't want to cancel on you so she went anyway." Remus lies again.

"Oh." Says Sirius sitting back down.

Remus sighs in relief and he sits back down often looking over to the window hoping that their friend is okay.
