Awake and Alive (Sequel to Rescue and Reveal)

Third Person POV

"Shadow!" Amy shrieked, and all eyes turned to the small form sprawled out on the table. His entire body was still, even his wings refused to move. He also looked duller than before. The sakura hedgehog glared and smacked Knuckles.

"Ow! Hey! What was that for!?"

"Don't you know anything about magic? Unbelief can kill a pixie!"

Everyone looked at Shadow in fear, and Knuckles began to sweat, "You mean, I might have just--?"

"Say you believe!" Amy begged, "You have to! If you don't, you could kill him!"

The red echidna stumbled and nodded before clearing his throat, "I...I believe! Come on, Shadow! I believe in you! Pixies, magic, crystal balls, the whole thing! Just wake up!"

"We believe in you, Shadow!"

"Come on, Faker, wake up. You're the Ultimate Lifeform remember?"

"Shadow, we all believe, just please wake up."

"What do we do, Mr. Sonic?" Cream pleaded, her eyes filled with unshed tears. Rouge lunged at Knuckles and shook him roughly, close to choking him.

"If he dies, I'm going to kill you!!!"

"Easy, bat girl! I didn't know! I'm sorry, all right? I didn't know that saying something would actually kill Mr. McEdge over here!"

She finally released him and looked back at her partner, who was literally on death's door. Tails pulled out his Miles Electric and scanned over the dark pixie's body.

"He's not looking good, I'm not gonna lie. We need to find someone that can help him."

"Like a doctor?" Knuckles asked, and the kit shook his head. Sonic snapped his fingers.

"The bear in the woods! If he turned Shadow into this, maybe he knows how to help!"

"All right! Then what are we waiting for? Let's go find him!" Amy cheered and pumped her fist in the air.

"One question. How are we gonna get Tinker bell to this wizard dude?"

Tails grinned and ran back into his lab before returning a few minutes later with a small box, only half the size of a normal shoe box. He opened it to reveal a thin blanket neatly folded to fit the container's size, and wide holes on either side of the box had been cut out so he could breathe. Sonic carefully picked up the unconscious fae with both hands and placed him inside the box.

"Okay, now we should be good to go. Come on, everybody! Grab a flashlight, and let's go."

The small gang searched the house for a light, since it was so close to midnight when they got back from raiding Eggman's base. Once they were set, the team started their trek into the forest, with Sonic leading the way, moving slower so that they could stay together. Tails shivered, keeping close to his older brother while carrying the makeshift transport.

"All this time, and I had no idea that some freaky wizard was living near our house."

"I know right?" Sonic grinned, trying to lighten the mood as he waved his flashlight around, "I think we raced this way. We're not far."

After two or three hours of walking, the troupe found the rundown cabin the two hedgehogs had stumbled upon only a few days ago, and it was still occupied, for which Sonic was grateful.

"Come on, we found it," he said in a low voice. They nervously walked up the steps and stood on the rickety porch, while Sonic knocked a few times. The door opened after several long seconds, and they were face to face with the old bear once again.
