Dear future Soham,
Nice day today. I planned to wake up at 2 in the morning and get studying but I failed miserably. Thankfully still I woke up at 6 am and began my day.
Today in India we have a festival called "Ganesh Chaturti", it is essentially the birth of Lord Ganesha and the son of the principal deities of Hinduism, Lord Shiva. This god Shiva has hair from which the infamous Ganges river flows and his son, Ganesha is the elephant-nosed god. He essentially has the trunk that of an elephant putting him at a whopping number 2 on my coolest gods list.
The number 1 coolest god is, Hanuman. This guy is perhaps the strongest, loyal-est, handsome-est, smartest man out there. Honestly, I'd love to explain why each of those attributes was given but I would strongly suggest that you read Ramayana, that to the detailed version.
Coming back to the topic, the apartment I reside in, has a grand Ganesh Chaturti festival every year. This year is no different. I knew some of my friends would come down, So I wanted to study enough so that I deserved to go have some fun. It went according to plan. First I tackled some questions from chemistry from a questions book I borrowed from a friend who is now in 11th. Then I did some Hindi and then I had tution. Pihu was mad at me cause my tution kept on going on. I finally told the teacher that I had to go somewhere and I would send the class work as homework. Finally, I reached down.
First I saw Simran and she was about to leave. I took her to meet Pihu. We all three were talking and the aarti was about to start. Aarti means chanting the song(s) of the god and with a lamp, light is offered to the idol. We were there and then Prasad/ food you get after the pooja was getting distributed. We wanted to serve the prasad, it's one of the things I always find super cool when I was in 6th, I used to look up to the older kids back then and think, "When will I do this?". Today was the day. Well, I hoped so. But Pihu's friends or should I say ex-friends, yeah she has some beef with all of them. Those girls had already occupied the spots. Pihu said that she wouldn't even eat because they were serving, let alone serving along with them. So there went my once dream down the gutter. But the prasad distribution will happen 7 more times over 3 more days, we hope we can get to do our bit then.
Then we all sat and ate there. There's this girl named Kenisha. Seems chill. I know her for a long time but it's like not like proper knowing. So I got to know her more. Seems pretty chill.
Simran left mid-arti because she had a mock-sat to write. Hope she did well.
Then we sat there and ate. Finally, we decided we'd meet again during the evening aarti, but no one showed up. Or they did, I do not know because I did not go.
Then there's Prakhar, it was his birthday so we went to his house. He is my mom's business partner. It was nice. Had some momos. Great stuff.
Then I came home and studied. Good great nice. I was going to sleep at around 8.
Guilt said hello and I woke up.
First I tried doing maths but I didn't understand anything so I shifted to a different textbook. Still didn't understand the required thing.
Then I practised physics diagrams. Round of applause for me. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. I now fully understand the one thing I didn't understand before. I feel nice about that.
The plan is to now prepare my speech because I am anchoring for a cultural program happening this Friday for the occasion of the festival. I need to write a script for that.
Exams begin next week. Dead scared. I have to get full in a couple of subjects. It's not even a want. It's a NEED. I haven't put in the work, however. I will work hard to reach these goals. I promise.
Lastly, I haven't gone to school in the past 5 days. I miss everyone. Hopefully, tomorrow is a fun day.
That's from me,
Yours truly,
Soham Gupta
